Vanessa Williams Joins Desperate Housewives

Vanessa Williams Joins Desperate Housewives – It appears that one of the stars from the television series “Ugly Betty,” Vanessa Williams, will be joining the cast of “Desperate Housewives” for the seventh season of the show. According to the network, Williams will be playing a housewife who will shake things up in the neighborhood and cause problems with all of the women who currently live on Wisteria Lane.

The executive producer of Desperate Housewives, Bob Daily, recently told Zap2it that the creator of the show would be meeting with her to describe the role that she will be playing more in depth.

“What we’re looking for is sort of a provocateur, a muckraker,” Daily told the TV website. “We’ve had a couple different people filling that role over the years. When Dana Delany joined The Lane, her function was partially to sort of stir things up a little bit. I think that’s really what we’re looking for.”

Williams will be joining the show for their seventh season. Many more popular shows, like Lost, have not been able to make it to their seventh season, so that is quite the accomplishment for the franchise. Williams will be joining the show after her Broadway run starring in “Sondheim on Sondheim,” comes to an end.

She spent four years appearing on the series “Ugly Betty,” which was received by critical acclaim but could not keep the viewers attention long enough to keep the series from being cancelled. She has won multiple awards, and has also starred in a number of hit films including “Hannah Montana: The Movie.”
