Undercover Boss season 2 episode 5 called “NASCAR” which focused on Steve Phelps aka Kevin Thomas who is the Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer for NASCAR aired last night on CBS.
Every week we watch a high level corporate executive try to do what his or her employees do on a daily basis and 99% of the time they failed at every task that is given to them.
Here is a brief recap of this new episode:
First of Steve Phelps who was pretending to be Kevin Thomas a fan, who won some kind of contest that allows him to get an inside look at Nascar landed a job in the terrible heat at Daytona where he had to practice changing a tire with Dion, who is one of the rare African-Americans working in the company.
Dion who revealed that he did know how long he could go on doing this very physically demanding job was awarded the chance to be the charter member of an Industry Council that Steve is creating and the choice to have an office job when he is too old to be in the pit crew.
Next up Steve met Glen who has a sick child and is the head sign artist.The duo did a good painting the black and white checkers on the pavement. Glen’s son got a helmet signed by all the drivers and some financial aid.
Eventually Kevin Thomas was introduced to Tom & Cindy who are concession stand managers and who were trying to raise some money for their kids’ cheerleading squad.After asking Steve to cook they decide to send him in front to handle sales and of course he fails at both.
At the end he decided to double what Cindy while Tom was given tickets to the championship race.
Last but not least we met Scott, a tire specialist who reveals to Steve that the NASCAR needs to more family oriented again.
Scott got a trip to a race for his family – additionally his entire crew and their respective families were given tickets to come and enjoy the races.
