Undercover Boss

Undercover Boss Episode 1 Waste Management Inc Larry O’Donnell – Undercover Boss which is CBS’ latest television series about the boss of a major corporation pretending to be a trainee to work as an entry-level worker in his/her own company to find out how it really is to be a minimum wage employee in the United States premiered last night. The first episode of Undercover Boss featured President and COO of Waste Management, Inc., Larry O’Donnell. Here is a recap of the episode.

After learning that O’Donnell ran “a $13 billion-dollar business,” we saw an impressive footage of the business man with his family golfing and water-skiing.Then O’Donnell was seen wearing a Waste Management jumpsuit with the camera crew explaining the WM employees that this was a “documentary [about] someone trying out for entry-level jobs.” Pretty soon,O’Donnell was shown vacuuming out portable toilets at an amusement park, picking up trash on a windy day and getting fired by Walter for not being fast enough.
And later on he was working on a recycling assembly line with a nice woman who had to gobble her lunch down in a 30-minute break and race to clock in after her meal.

After the financial crisis that hit the nation few months ago ,it appeared the big bosses in Wall Street needed to clean up their images in order to be seen less as villains who lost their third yacht while Americans lived on food stamps and faced foreclosure.Undercover Boss wanted to do the same thing except everyone was a victim. The CEOs were not going to be the villains well, they are the CEOs and the workers were not going to be the villains because middle class Americans who watch TV would get upset and the jobs themselves were not going to be the villains because COOs would never allow that.
At the end we had a bunch of heroes which created a boring show. What are your thoughts on the episode?
That’s all we have for now on Undercover Boss Episode 1.

I watched the first episode with interest. It’s a Great idea for the top leadership of companies to “expose their reputation” and become entry level employees. Even if it’s for only a week, they will see the challenges their employees have to go through, which in turn will make them better leaders, and ultimately filter to the consumer. We all win. It is a mistake to be cynical about the idea of improving the world a little more.

    Larry,

I was really touched by the show. That was very courageous of you. You brought awareness to so many working cla** people. People who really makes difference; frontline workers. You showed that you care about your people and that was a good impression on your company. It take a heart for someone to do this.
You have done a excellent job and I am sure it will bring a great deal of awareness to all COO and there will be a change in corporate world. I believe you will do a great job going forward.

    Thank you,
    Ronika

I loved Undercover Boss. I am a small business owner and believe that I have the best staff and show them so by paying them well and showing my appreciation for their work. This episode confirms my belief in being personally involved in your business and those who make it successful. I’m glad to see that the big wigs are getting that too. Keep up the good work. I’ll keep watching.

I think this show just goes to show than the American people love to be brainwashed. It’s very easy to see through this garbage. Corporations are in the gutter right now and they’d love to be seen as good guys, what a better a way to get this agenda rolling than a show like this?
