The Vampire Diaries season 2 episode 9 called “Katerina” which was written by J. Miller Tobin and directed by Andrew Chambliss aired last night on The CW.
This was a Katherine-esque episode where we got a boat load of information about the vampire.
Here is what learned:
Katherine aka Katerina belonged to a Bulgarian family who kicked out of their home after she gave birth to a child out of wedlock in 1490.
In 1492 she eventually moved to England where she got in a relationship with Klaus who is the oldest vampire in existence who came up with the brilliant idea of sacrificing her so he can break curse that turns vampires slaves to the sun.
The poor girl learns of her fate so she runs away with Trevor and Rose.
Katherine later on tried to kill herself twice- the first time she tried hanging herself and the second time she
attempted to slit her wrists and was save by Rose’s blood each time – her failed suicides eventually made her immortal.
Meanwhile Bonnie who was supposed to go on a date with Jeremy ended up spending time Luka Martin and his father Jonas instead.
Here is a brief recap of the episode:
Elena skips school and goes to the tomb where she has Katherine tell her the truth. The reason she came back was to break the curse, she needed Elena, the moonstone, a witch, a werewolf, and a vampire. Meanwhile Bonnie meets a warloc, and Jeremy gets jealous. The warloc’s father is then accompanied by an original and kills Damon’s friend. Stefan finds Elena at the tomb where he tells her that Katherine lies and then said “Katherine is a psychotic bitch to think that they will let her out of the tomb.” and then Katherine said ” Klaus will come to kill them and he won’t enter a tomb where no vampire can get out of, so she’s the safest psychotic bitch in town.
The episode ended with a bang- Damon went out to find Rose’s friend Slater who is supposed to help them find a way to destroy the vampire curse – but as it turned out Slater is being manipulated by Elijah.
The show goes on a two weeks break so see you on December 2, 2010 for an episode called The Sacrifice”.
