Have you found any correlation between the Guardasil vacine and cysts? My daughter had the vaccines this past year and then developed an abnormal cyst in her breast resulting in surgery. Results were negative, but I am now wondering if there is any info about this happeneing to others.

On that show The Dr’s it is quite upsetting to me on the subject of vaccinations for HPV they can make light of the risks by saying you take a risk when you take a tylenol. there is no comparison there at all. People don’t die from a tylenol and many people have died from vaccines and doctors are well aware of it, but for they sake of not scaring ppl they say that it is safe.

I am wondering what causes the development of moles. Over the last five years I have “grown or developed” multiple moles of different sizes, shapes, and colors, on several places on my body, to include my eyelids. Is there anything that can be done to stop these, and who would I see to get the ones on my eyelids removed?

I have a 16 year old daughter who has had really bad periods every since she began having them. She has really bad blood clots and what she calls excruciating pain every time she has a cycle. Is this normal, and is there anything to help her.she tries taking tylenol or the otc menstrual medicine but nothing seems to help,it’s to the point that she has to stay home from school every month during that week.she takes p’e and soccer at school so she gets plenty of exercise. Is there anything I can do to help her.

Is Lipotropics injections safe to get or is it more harmful to the body? If safe, how many injections at one time can be injected?

they are right, taking tylenol is dangerous, it can also kill you, my daughter died from tylenol

I was in tears watching today’s show, the one on the Gardasil Vaccine. I have a 17 year old daughter that has been through pure hell since recieving the shot on May 22. Before the shot, she was a top ranked runner, running an average of ten miles a day. Since the shot,(which most of her doctors confirm) she has developed pericarditis, mono, hand weakness, and has started having severe, blinding headaches, fatigue so on and so on. She will randomly swell up, has chest pains, shortness of breath etc. You can not tell me that a completely normal and physically active, otherwise healthy girl, just randomly started experiencing all these health complications. You also can’t tell me that these girls, all over the country that pass out and have seizures immediately after getting this shot are just afraid of needles. The statistics they mentioned today that only 6% of girls develop a severe reaction, which according to them breaks down to 1 in 27,000, is not a high enough number to do something about this poison that is being injected into innocent young girls on a daily basis. The lady from VAERS stated that TWENTY FIVE percent of ALL new claims coming in are now due to this shot. You can’t tell me that the fact that the MANUFACTURER of this drug is the ONLY one to do a study and then having it “fast tracked” thru the channels to have it approved isn’t somehow related to the fact that MERCK, is having to pay out tons of money to the VICTIMS of Vioxx and that this is not somehow related. Don’t you think tha they possibly wanted to recoup some of their losses? Which, by the way, the earnings of this so called miracle drug is 1.5 BILLION dollars to date. I also have an issue with the fact that, once again, according to the show today, this drug was ONLY tested on 11,000 girls, that doesn’t make sense…if 1 in 27000 girls will be effected, shouldn’t the test group have been larger than that number?!! Think about the size of the town you live in, is there more than 27,000 people in it? If you had a 1 in 27000 chance of winning the lottery, you would think those were pretty good odds, wouldn’t you?! Well, reverse that, is it worth taking a chance that your daughter, niece or granddaughter will be THAT ONE in 27000. With all the problems that my daughter is having, we are still lucky, she’s still alive to have these problems, some girls aren’t!

Regarding the 16 year old having really bad menstrual cramps. I would think that she has endometriosis. I think you should take her to your physician and find out what is going on.

I’m watching the show on Home Birth vs. Hospital Birth. I was very disappointed to hear all the negative discussion regarding home birth. The “Drs” were very enthusiastic to share all the “scary things” that could happen with a home birth, but really neglected to share the facts. That statistically maternal deaths are lower with home births. That babies and mothers are given exceptional extended home care by a qualified midwife who is specifically trained in delivering babies and to watch for and react to the changes that can happen in labor.

I didn’t hear any statistics on the unnecessary interventions that happen in hospitals and result in costly medications, procedures and even injury and death to mom and baby. I didn’t hear how the C-section rate in North America is considered dangerously high by the World Health Organization…yet we still are encouraging the general population to have hospital births!

Where was the professional opinion to represent the other side to the story? Besides having an OBGYN for the hospital side if you truly wanted to show both sides you should of had a reputable, qualifed and respected midwife such as Ina May Gaskin who is credited for developing the “Gaskin Maneuver” for help babies with shoulder distocia. Midwife Ina May Gaskin is invited all over the world to teach OBGYN’s her technique for helping babies with this condition.

I’m just disgusted and disappointed to see again another lopsided discussion on this issue. I fully believe that the medical system has a place and in case of an emergency or high risk pregnancy, there is no one that I would want caring for me or my baby than a highly trained and compassionate OBGYN. However, for a normal healthy pregnancy a educated, caring, midwife is the safest choice! I’m a mother of 2 and have had both of my babies at home in the tub under the competent and exceptional care of trained midwives.

Watching the Doctors today they mentioned regarding pain medicine to only get it from one doctor. I am upset they did not say anything about it being a FELONY FOR DOCTOR SHOPPING AND IF YOU DO GO TO MORE THAN ONE DOCTOR AND GET NARCOTIC PAIN MEDS YOU ONLY NEED TO SHOP ONCE AND THEY WILL CATCH IT SOONER OR LATER AND YOU WILL GO TO JAIL!! THIS IS NO JOKE. I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN A LAW ABIDING CITIZEN NEVER EVEN A TICKET AND I DID IT ONLY ONE TIME AND THE NARCS CAME TO MY HOUSE AND ARRESTED ME. DON’T BE FOOLED THE PHARMACY HAS TO GIVE THEM RECORDS ON WHO IS GETTING THESE MEDS AND THEY DO WATCH YOU. DONT MAKE THE MISTAKE I DID. IT WAS HORRIBLE TO GO THRU. STICK WITH ONE DOCTOR ONLY FOR YOUR PAIN MEDS AND IF YOU ARE ADDICTED CHECK OUT THE MED SABOXEN. (NOT SURE OF SPELLING, ASK YOUR DOCTOR) IT HELPS ADDICTS GET PAIN RELIEF WITH OUT BEING ADDICTING. I PLAN ON STARTING THIS TREATMENT FOLLOWING MY LAST MAJOR SURGERY. GOOD LUCK TO ALL. I HOPE THE DOCTORS TELL ALL THE VIEWERS HOW SERIOUS IT IS TO DOCTOR SHOP.

Dear Dr. Phil ( & Others),
I saw your show of the little people having brain operations. I really wish I could have helped in any way ( which I cannot do since I am not a dr). I just wanted to tell you that i’ve had epilepsy since i was born & it took until I was 33 yrs old that an operation was done on me ( in an emergency case). I was 1 of the first people they tried it on & it had worked for me, but it took a few years before it all disappeared & I got back to normal. My case was different than what I saw on TV — mine was left side of brain ( pituitary — left temporal lobe). I am on disability now & a lot better than before, yet it may still bother me many times since i am still restricted at some things or still fear some stuff. I wish these operations were known a long time ago. I really wish I could see or just talk to 1 of you to let you know the stuff a person goes thru & the recovery & memory losses, etc. I saw 2 different shows ( with you guys ) about this! It just struck me right away! I really wish I could tell you what happened back when I went thru all this trouble, then finally got the help I needed. I cannot work, yet I do talk to others with familiar trouble & do lots of stuff that people think we cannot do — plus how shocked people are when we tell them the medical trouble we have & cannot believe it since we can do what they do. I cannot explain it. I have seen so many high drs here in Canada & read so much stuff on all of this. I can explain a lot of stuff to other people with same trouble. I know that some people cannot be helped — depending on which part of brain is effected. I just wish I could talk to you guys to let you see how these new operations do help. I am restricted to certain things yet & am on just a couple of pills now, but I am a lot older now & have other trouble with old age, etc., so I do not work. these drs here have helped me for years & I can still talk to them if I want for any reason. It has been 22 yrs now. I wish there was a way I could talk to you of this stuff & how the new stuff REALLY does help. Please remember ( as I was told over & over) — change your pills after so many years ( or you can go off of them slowly), get your sleep & rest & watch what you eat or do! I could say so much stuff, but you guys probably know all that i’d like to tell you. To me — I wish this would have happened when I was still real young instead of when it was too late - I may have worked my life instead of being on disability. I even had nervous breakdowns & a stroke or other injuries during seizures — you probably wouldn’t even know it if you just saw me walk down the street. I keep wishing I could have helped long time ago after I had that operation. I did in some ways, but it is not enough for me yet. I do prove that we can do just the same as others, yet in some cases may stil be restircted just a bit. I wish I could tell you more & more. But there is just way too much. If you guys were up here, I would have went just to talk to you ( not publicly) to tell you all that I went through & let you see how I am now. Keep up the good work! Help those others that need it & try to get it done real soon before it is too late. Let them know they are just as normal as others. I would not be able to go see you because of $$ & restrictions of help right now. I hope to see you 1 of these times thinking I can help you with any info since I went thru it all 22 yrs ago. Please write back if you want to. My e-mail address is at the top. Please do not give it away or tell anyone of me — this is between you & me right now. Thank you. I will keep watching you!

Hello. I suffer from Trigeminal Neuralgia. A painful neurological disease that has affected my life. You never hear anyone talk about this illness but it is extremely painful and many many people suffer from it. I have had three different surgeries to alleviate the pain that I have bilaterally and still I have to take many pain killers every day just to get out of bed. It would be great if this could be a discussion topic just so that more people knew about TN. I am also considering a Motor Cortex Implant but would like to hear more info on this.

I wish to comment on your segment about ECT. This treatment saved my mothers life 6 years ago. I did a lot of reading on this at the time, as my mother was so depressed she couldn’t make decisions for herself. I had to obtain power of attorney to make the decision to have this procedure done. Many medications were tried prior and nothing worked. After two ECT treatments she responded and with meds. she regained her life back. Now, 6 years later she is 78 years old and the life of any party. I was irritated by Dr. Masterson’s very negative opinion about ECT. Afterall, she is an OBGYN, I doubt if the subject ECT comes up in her field very often.
It does have its’ merits and can be an option that works.

I am 52 and disabled. I have diabetes, hbp, and have lost 80% of kidneys. I also have depression, sleep apnea and grade 4 arthritis in both knees. I have had a heart attack, cataracts removed and fluid removed from knees several times. I did weigh 196# at 5′6” when I got out of hospital a little over 2 years ago. Now, I am hovering around 240#. I also have diabetic neuropathy in both hands and feet as well as high cholesterol. I take about 10 different medicines, including thyroid medicine. I used to walk, but my knees have gotten so bad, it is hard just getting out of bed. The psychologist I saw to be determined for disability said I have the body of an 83 year old woman and he would be depressed if he was me. I want to get healthy again and have a good life. I used to work 7 days a week for 20 plus years raising my 3 boys and now I am too tired and hurt to much to enoy them or my grndchildren. I have tried 1/2 of the phen phen, ionamin, xenical and south beach diet and weight watchers. I used to go to curves until my ortho doctor took me off the knee machines. I want to have lap band surgery, so that when I need the kidney transplant, my stomach fat is gone (which my doctor said needs to be done). Is there any hope for me?

I watched your show today for the first time and i had saw a commercial when you went to break about MY HIGHBRIDGE MOUTH and i was wondering if you could send me some information on that because i am a 33 year old woman and my teeth are in terrible shape i am constantly popping Advil for the pain because everytime i go to the dentist they make me cry everytime i leave. I wish i had taken better care of my teeth, when i was twelve yrs old i had braces i also had a tooth at the roof of my mouth so i had a thing attached to my roof so that the tooth could move back into place i also grew up on a farm where i drank well water which i had heard is actually not good for your teeth and that is what i think also contributed to me having weak teeth. I’m not quite sure though. I am very ashamed to smile i cry all the time because of my teeth and i think i am actually causing more problems to my health because of all the Advil i pop when i do have pain. I just want to live a normal happy and healthy life with my children and my husband, I wish that i had someone could sympathize and understand what i am going through and i also wish that there was someone out there who is willing to help i don’t work but my husband does and we do have coverage but it’s only $1500.00 and the work that needs to be done on my teeth is worth alot more than that i am also fed up with root canals and i have just basically given up because i know that without help, sincerety and understanding from someone who knows what i am feeling and going through without it always coming down to money especially when it also is affecting your health which i think is more important than money
    COULD YOU PLEASE ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    I AM VERY DESPERATE
    THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME

The show should educate about Celiac. I have Celiac (unable to eat gluten) and our country seems to ignore the need for better food labels. By the way Celiac is an Auto Immune disease and not an allergy therefore labels can fail to say gluten as a ingredient. It also down plays the importance of the diagnosis. It affects many parts of ones life and body. For example fertility can be a issue, or bone thinning and even cancer. Celiac was discover late in my life and it has taken away my health in many regards. Educate and inform, the show has a great purpose and platform for debates in health care. Thank you.

Ever since I was very young (I am 69 y/o now) I have had spasms in my legs which the doctors now refer to as Restless Leg Syndrome. What causes this, and is there a cure for it besides a “pill”. Now the spasms are also in my arms and back at night. It usually starts in when I am sitting. It feels like consant electric shocks shooting through my body especially as soon as I go to bed so that I cannot get to sleep. Sosme nights, no pain pills, hot showers, anxiety medications, or othing else stops them until I am so completely exhausted. I would like a reply as to what I should do to get relief. Thank you.

I caught a few minutes of your show for the first time recently; it was an episode on home birth vs hospital birth. I had my first two children in the hospital and my third (in May) at home. I realize that doctors are watching with horror the growing popularity and attention to home birth, but are not understanding how to effectively address the trend. The young lady doctor can talk about the inherent risks of childbirth and the accompanying statistics endlessly, without making dent on the other side. The reason for this impasse is that doctors are failing to discuss healthy birth; birth as a natural physiological process. Eroding the trust of women towards the medical community are the high rates of intervention and c-sections. It is incredibly concerning to a healthy woman with a healthy baby. These trends indicate to us an ignorance of how to treat the vast majority which are low risk women. There is no doubt that you can handle every conceivable emergency, but can you respectfully sit on your hands and leave well-enough alone?

Your daughter sounds like she has similar pains like I do. I suffered from bloating, painful heavy periods, and many other things that finally made me go to the doctor. The doctors told me I have a condition called endometriosis. Its where you develop scar tissue on organs in your body due to your period. It is very painful especially during your period. If I were you I would have your daughter checked for this because if it goes untreated then she can become infertile. Usually they prescribe birth control for this. It can help in most cases, others may need surgery like I did. Hope this helps.

I was disappointed regarding Lisa Masterson’s discussion with the three pregnant women and elective c-sections. She should not be advocating elective c-sections. A woman is perfectly capable (medical issues aside) of delivering a baby vaginally. Promoting c-sections is a serious issue in this country. When c-sections happen, a woman is likely to have a repeat. Many insurance companies are denying coverage because of previous c-sections. She didn’t mention that the recovery time for a c-section is double that of a vaginal birth. Many times she demeans any form of natural birthing. She also gave a very dry view of selective termination in the case of multiple babies. I have to aplaud Dr. Travis for saying that a couple should take responsiblity when they now that fertilization can lead to multiple births and that we are playing God.

I am concerned about some of the advice Dr. Lisa is giving about prenatal care. She advocates prenatal sex, and the use of drugs during childbirth - but these can be very harmful to the mental health of the child later in life. It is all covered in the book “Dianetics”. I hope she (and the show’s viewers) will familiarize themselves with this information.

Dr. Sear’s book on vaccines derives all of it’s information, according to the information in the books introduction, from the drug companies’ information packages. This is certainly not an unbiased source, especially since they are not required to report all of their findings to the FDA.

A good book on the REAL story about vaccines and their ties to destroyed lives, disease, SIDS, etc., is by Hilary Butler called “Just a Little P Rick”

    Dr Lisa,
You have a clear bias towards a medical intervention in pregnancy and labor. Needed or not. Clearly you think all women should have an epidural. Clearly you think that a C-Section is a better way to birth. It also seems clear to me that you have no interest in supporting women to make choices that are more natural. You are the kind of doctor who promotes fear of labor, rather than building women up, in a belief that it is something they can do.

I don’t mean to show a bias on the other side, I mean, I got epidurals with my two births, I only wanted to point out that your bias is clear. Perhaps you wold consider finding a way to communicate more positively about the other methods of birthing a baby. I suggest a show on the may ways to cope with the pain of labor. Your show about home birth, was very discouraging. There are plenty of alternative options in which you and your baby can be safe, and the complications you spoke of were scary enough to detour a person from even considering other options, but the chances of them occurring weren’t mentioned and happen to very few people.

I understand your concern for baby and mother…and I hope you understand my concern for a mothers mental well being, particularly for those considering a more natural birth experience.

I have been having severe pain in my heart since 2003. Numerous EKG’s and Stress Tests has been performed on me however it all comes back normal. On September 5th I was taken to the Emergency room with chest pains. I was admitted and was given a Stress Test, Xray’s and Echo Cardio Gram Test was performed. While the ECG was being performed I saw on the monitor a loose skin flapping in one of the arteries as the blood was flowing against it. I asked the Technitian where that loose skin was and she told me in the artery. She told me the dr will explain it to me.
The Dr. only told me my heart is functioning alright. Please help me because I am afraid this skin when it comes apart can block one of the blood vesels which can cause death.
I was discharged from the hospital on Monday September 8th and I haven’t been able to sleep for the fear I might die. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was disappointed in the Doctor’s response
to ways to help painful periods. I no longer
have them thank goodness (I am 56), but I suffered many years with very painful cramps with heavy blood clots, before finding relief. I agree that the heat pad works, but would like to add hot liquids like tea or warm milk and staying warm and taking Ibuprofen worked for me and made it possible for me to have a productive day at work or school. The old Modal, aspirin and tylenol never helped me. I realize that every woman reacts to periods in different ways. My PE teacher always made me exercise and didn’t understand it made my cramps worse. I wish I had known all of this when I was growing so I didn’t have to suffer so much. My mother and sister never had cramps, so they didn’t know how I suffered each month. Cold drinks of any kind only made my cramps worse.
If Dr. Lisa’s advice didn’t help you try mine, I discovered it the hard way after many years
    of suffering.

I was recently been diagnosed with bio-polar and have been perscribed nova-lamotrigine. The doctor said she perscribed this one rather then others as there would not be any weight gain. I have been training/body building for 17 years and she knew this would be a big deal for me. However, what happened when I started taking this medication, the one thing I didn’t want ..I gained 8-10 pounds. I would like to know is there something else I could take that is just as good as the one I was perscribed? I asked my doctor but she said this is the one that is most recommended..and did not give me an alternative. Also I checked out the side effects on line for this medication and weight gain is not listed for this drug. Can you give me an alternate that I could take, that has no weight gain…please, that would be great. I am at the point that I would rather not take the medication and I know that this is not wise..so help would be great.

My husband thanks for God for that. It is really not that bad. You might want to speak with your mother and see what she went thru. You might want to ask her when she start and how long it lasted for her. I have friends that went thru it within a couple of years, where as I am going into my 9th year of this. I didn’t know my mother so I have nothing to base my experence on, but my daughters will. Exercise really help with the hot flash, at lease it did for me.

Regarding today’s show (9/10/2008) and the young girl who started having procedures to lose weight at 12. This girl and her paents are emblamatic of what is wrong in our society and how they are so easily swaded by the whims and wishes of their children. This young lady, now 14, really had a lot to say about what she wanted while being totally unconcerned about what is good for her. The pathetic thing is that her parents were actually rallying her position. I realize that the show is not meant to be confrontational, but can you imagine how this was perceived when even professionals were cow-towed to submitting to this child’s wishes. The parent should be ashamed of themselves and professional acquiescing to such requests should be investigated. I’m pretty sure these parents would be the first to sue if anything negative were to happen during one of these procedures. Accordingly, someone should just say no to this child until she is at least 18.

Hi Linda, I believe the answer to your skin problem would be helped by doing a cleanse. You may have a combination of heavy metal toxicity, as well as food allergies. I recommend that you seek out a natureopath for guidance, though there are many good books out there as well. Chlorella and fish oils would be very beneficial for your skin. Aloe and iodine supplementation as well. 90 percent of people don’t get enough iodine in their diets, which can effect the thyroid, thus causing your hair loss. Also check out the Center for Advanced Medicine web-site. They are located in Encinitas, CA and have a call in radio program on Sat. mornings, where you can ask their advice. Don’t give up hope. There is help for you. Jen

Thanks for having the show about liposuction on the 12 yr old girl. I live in Austin TX. and had a consultation with Dr. Ersek; I’m not surprised he would have a child this young have this procedure. He is know for having a pre-prom procedures for high school students and accepting patients that are very young. When I went to visit for basic liposuction about 2 yrs ago he suggested that I have extensive surgery (over 5 different areas and breast reduction). He seemed more interested in pushing additional surgeries. I went and got a 2nd opinion. The other doctor suggested a few things for me to do prior to surgery. I’ve lost weight, look and feel much healthier. I no longer need liposuction.

I to have tried so many diets only to fail and then gain that weight plus more. Since I tuned 40 eight years ago it’s been one health problem after another. Hysterectomy, blood clot in my lung, sleep acme, gurd, arthritis, now my stomach wont empty. I’m boarder line diabetic and have put on 83 pounds in the last eight years . For me diets don’t work , I’ve tried lots of them and the pills to , worked outs and even seen a dietician. The lap band would be great only insurance doesn’t think I weigh enough yet. I mean how much does a person have to weigh or do before they get help? I know I’m not the only one out there that can’t afford eighteen thousand dollars or more for the surgery. So what am I supposed to do?

I was just watching the show on the girl that had lipo when she was only 12 years old. I can’t belive that her parents let her go through with it! To me, that is just plain dam lazy on the girls part and I’m horrifed that those parents allowed it! Then to boot, took her to Mexico to go under the knife again, and get the lap band! OMG!! The mother and father are making excuses of why they let her do it! I think that is such crap that she wanted her father to see her in a dress before he dies. Oh PLEASE!! They were very lucky that they weren’t attending their daughters funeral. I think Dr.Travis should have kicked them off the stage. They just didn’t get it did they! U watch, god forbid if something happens to that girl if she gets another surgery. They will be the first ones to be crying to the media…She was so young, the Dr. should have not allowed it, we didn’t know, and list will go on! Anyway, with that being said, I do wish the girl well and some words of advice, PLEASE! loose weight the natual way.

I really appreciated how the doctors in yesterday’s show really tried to stand up to the mom and daughter who got the liposuction done.
It is so depressing to see how them parents are encouraging their daughter to get all kinds of cosmetic surgery done so she can be “happy”!!!
I have a strong feeling that if her parents would give her affirmation and tell her how beautiful she is on the inside and out that she wouldn’t be desiring to look like some model!
I agree with the person who said this is a wake up call to parents! LOVE your kids for who they are not what they look like and if you keep pouring out that love and not giving into every whim that they have they will have a great self-esteem and thank you later for saving them from all the foolish whims that they had!
America seems to have definitely forgotten who’s in charge, the parents, not the kids!!

On today’s show (and I have only caught just a minute of it because I am working doing medical transcription at home), you are talking about how ERs are crowded and what does everyone think should/could be done about it, etc. I used to work in a hospital here in northwest PA. Initially, I noted that they had the same problem you are talking about, but they DID institute a clinic within the hospital for this purpose. People are so USED to going to the ER for most every little thing that it really puts a monkey wrench into the works. But when a patient comes in and is registered, unless it is something that the admitting clerk RECOGNIZES as something that should REMAIN in the ER, those patients are transferred to this other clinic within the hospital. Granted, it’s a lot of shuffling around, and there can be numerous people in the waiting area of the CLINIC, but at least those who are emergently awaiting care due to breathing problems, severe bleeding, or pain such that they would be taken to Surgery emergently….at LEAST there is a lot better chance that those patients will be seen much sooner and have better outcomes. I see this to be a real “positive” for our little hospital, and I think it is something that should be done in every hospital that HAS an Emergency Department.

    Dr. Ordan,

I heard something about candidates for a make-over and would like to share my story. I am a 42 year old mother of two. I have been suffering from acne all my life. I’ve tried Accutane, other remedies from dermatologists and regular facials, but can’t seem to keep my skin clear. I am careful to use non-comedogenic products as well. Products such as Proactiv give me a rash after a month of use. I have a personal training business and work part-time for a medical office. In all, I work 42-50 hrs. per week to support my children. I recently made a big decision….to consult a plastic surgeon as I feel that I most likely need a deep chemical peel to correct my skin as I have a lot of scarring and pitting. This decision was a big one for me because I tend to worry about finances and always put my children’s needs first. Shortly after I made my appointment I had appendicitis. That surgery alone made me consider canceling my appointment. But that wasn’t all. A nodule was found on my lung on the CT scan for the appendectomy which ultimately led to a right middle lobectomy. I am grateful for the appendicitis as it saved my life. The nodule was early stage 1 adenocarcinoma but my lymph nodes are clear. No chemo! As you can imagine, my finances are pretty tight. I have always been self conscious of my skin and would love to know, just once in my life, what it’s like to have beautiful skin. If I am not a candidate, could you please give me your opinion as to what the one single most effective procedure would be for me and the approximate cost? I will submit photos for you to evaluate at your request. Thank you for your help and consideration. Jodi

How can you sit there and tell people that diet sodas or anything diet with artifical sweeteners won’t hurt you. They may not have proved it causes cancer. Methanol which is in aspartame breaks down into formic acid and formaldehyde in the body. Formaldehyde is a deadly neurotoxin. An EPA assesssment of methanol states that methanol ” is considered a cumulative poison due to the low rate ofexcretion once it is absorbed. In the body, methanol is oxidized to formaldehyde and formic acid; both of these are toxic.” The recommended limit of consumption of 7.8 mg/day. A one liter approx.1 quart aspartame-sweetened beverage contains about 56mg of methanol. Heavy users of aspartame containing products consume as much as 250mg of methanol daily or 32 times the EPA limit. The most well known peoblems from Methanol poisoning are vision problems an my son is a eye doctor.Methanol is a wood achohol poison All people have to do is gon to google aned put in aspartame and read how it got passed by the FDA It was used as a paint thinner that is what methanol is FACT. It may not cause cancer but what is it doing to the rest of your body. There is so much more to say.

Had my parents been the good parents they should have been and allowed me to see an OBGYN…I could have been spared all this with a tiny daily pill!! “Ask” your doctor…GP or OBGYN to test your thyroid functions!!!

Sometimes strokes can not be found on CT scans or MRI’s. You can have a blood test to find out for sure. If you are prone to migraines you need to ask your doctor about taking hormones.

I want to comment on the short comments made last week concerning ECT (electro-convulsive therapy)
I don’t think the comments were informative or fair. Dr Masterson was able to give her personal opinions but no other point of view of offered. ECT
has changed over the past few years and is very helpful to some people who have not been helped by medications or other therapies. She said ECT has only a short term benefit. ECT can keep a person alive until another therapy can tried. ECT is very useful to decrease suicidal ideation during the period before medications are at therapeutic levels. I hope that you all would take another look at ECT. There are some dedicated Drs doing ECT with some life saving results. Thank You.

I’ve been an ER nurse on the night shift for the past 3 years in a Metro Oklahoma City hospital. I have been watching your show since it has started and I am HOOKED!! You guys are fun to watch and very informative. Dr. Stork I just wanted to say thank you for the comments you made regarding ER back up and overflow. Last year was one of the worst flu seasons I have seen (even though I haven’t been in this profession that long). You hit the key points on the nail head! We are already experiencing these kinds of overflows in the ER (holding patients) because the hospital is full and its not even flu season. I think what you said was important and if its possible for people to hold out and see their PCP it really helps us and allows us to take care of the critically ill. Coming to the ER in the early morning is also another helpful tip. We are slammed by 7 pm when I get to work with patients in the halls, multiple ambulances in the bay etc. and often is not slowing down all night. From triage experience, early morning is better. Also wish patients and family knew how hard we are working and that we get frustrated with the overflow and wait times as well. Most staff are often working with the same type of flu symptoms the patients are having because of staffing and nursing shortages. We have so much paperwork and criteria to meet on the legal realm of things that it also comes into play (we don’t like it but are required to do it and audited for it) constantly. We are doing the very best we can in the best way we know how to help them! Just want to say thanks again for bringing home that point on your show, look forward to seeing what else I can learn from ya’all. THANKS!

p.s. Enjoyed watching you on the Bachelore but would rather hear you talk about medicine and show your smarts:)

I keep hearing about “make-overs”… “Tell us your story, win a free make over!” If I could have anything made-over, it would be my mouth. Although I’ve worked full-time the better part of my adult life, sometimes working 2 jobs, but have not been able to afford much needed dental work. It’s embarrassing, because I work in customer service-front desk at a hotel. I also know the health factors, plaque in the bloodstream, etc. But no matter how it is explained to me, it is just not in the budget. When people discuss various celeb’s-her lips, legs, breasts, small waist, etc.-I think, “I want her mouth!” In Jax., I looked into a Dental College, but it cost as much as going to a regular Dentist’s office. A local homeless shelter was offering dental care on the news, but their way of handling a “bad tooth” was to just pull it! Any ideas? I’m 49 and this isn’t getting any better. I actually have dreams about my teeth crumbling in my mouth!

I was very disapointed that the doctors show which discussed MS as a disease that for some “unknown” reason atacks the meylin covering of the nerves in humans.

Why I am upset, is because there is a well known and increasingly diagnosed infectious disease, responsible for the symptoms which of course have been in my opinion incorrectly labled with the general term of MS. Waxing and waneing or remitting and returning MS variety or any of the other catagories that are misdiagnosed as MS are as I said increasingly being attributed to the infection of a Borelia Burgdorferi Spirochete which likes to nibble at the meilin covering of the nerves in every nervous system we humans posess.

ALS patients have also been found to be infected with lyme disease and or some form of TBI(tick borne infection) yet which manifests itself and its symptoms as usually pertaining to ALS. I myself was incorrectly diagnosed initially with either ALS,LUPUS,MS,ankylosing spondilitis, post polio syndrome or what have you early on in my experience. These mistakes and the furthering of the mistakes of the comments made on the DOCTORS SHOW do nothing but harm to those patients who will undoubtedly be convinced by their medical professionals that MS is the diagnosis and there is no known etiology which causes this unfortunate wasting away of muscles in a child especially.

It is also unfortunate that the “DOCTORS” on this show have not heard of the way a spirochete may morph into a cystic form when trying to hide from detection or when going into “remitting or waxing” asymptomatic forms. Of course when the cyst is then broken and the spirochete is released there would leave an open spot in the meilin covering of the nerve on which it happened to be attached.

Pleas doctors, try and get at least these two diseases out of the closet as more and more researchers are needed to find and identify previously mysteriously missunderstood causes for among other things MS, ALS, RA, DJD, LUPUS, Fibro Myalgia, chronic disease….etc et al….

I would be more then happy to come on your show and debate my records of misdiagnosis of some of these diseases and some of the reports I have which will at least better inform mothers and fathers what to be aware and warned of, the least being the identification and proper removal and corresponding treatments necessary so as NOT to have their children live a very painful, debilitating, parallyzed life. Very possibly NEEDLESSLY!

This continued controversy has gone on WAY TOO LONG at the detriment of many, many physiologically and psychologically ill children and people of all ages.

Just how many of the children in the suburbs that have committed these horendous crimes of murder and suicide have ever been checked afterward or preventively for any TBI(tick borne illness)which can and does affect the minds of the young as well as every age group of humans.

Are you aware for instance that the mother tick is able to pass on the diseases she carries in her gut to her offspring?

The mothers of humans have also passed on these terrible diseases in utero and have not been aware of this because they may have been asymptomatic.

Are you doctors aware that these diseases like babesiosis and bartonella are not even checked for whenever blood donations are collected? This and many other co-infections I call TBI’s may well be responsible for an epidemic of a pandoric like pathogens infecting the entire earth while professors in at least two medical societies the IDSA (who has been cited in court by the Connecticutt Attorney General for malfeasance and conflicts of interests as well as fraud. The ILADS foundation is the conflicting organization which was even called in to treat our tick bitten and infected with one or more diseases present President of the United States of America?

Two bills are now on Capital Hill that would, if passed dedicate more funds for research and education of this epidemic that infects an estimated 230,000 people in the USA alone, every year, and is increasing even as we speak.

Please, in God’s Name! Bring all of this to light. Many people worldwide are comitting suicide due to the many painful manifestations of this disease. Not to mention the many psychological manifestations that have previously been attributed to either innate or environmentally responsible rearing or BEHAVIORAL excuses for abhorrant, violent, Rage like behaviour costing us our children in many schools here and around the world.

Please help, you all have the unique ability to get the word out about this pandoric epidemic we face every hour of every day, here in America and Worldwide!

Much like AID’s…we that suffer from these diseases need a voice…a champion….

Won’t you please “Do no more harm” by NOT ignoreing my pleas?

This show is absolutely ridiculous. It is uninformative, incomplete and inaccurate. It is a bunch of dead-end doctors who obviously don’t care enough about the true practice of medicine to conitinue it in the real world and instead would rather host a talk show preaching half-assed discussions about medical issues to vulnerable viewers.

It is a crock of —-. I hope people who watch this show don’t rely on any of the information they give out. This show is just wrong and a waste of time. If they really want to help, how about canceling the show and taking the PROFIT and the salaries PAID to these dead-beat “doctors” and donating it all to a true medical cause like cancer or IV research. But of course it’s all about money and that would never happen.

Word of advice: Go to YOUR REAL DOCTOR if you have any true medical problems or need information!!! This show is meant for nothing more than ENTERTAINMENT - if they were providing any truly groundbreaking or important information, don’t you think it would be broadcast at a time when people would be home to watch it and not at 2 o’clock in the afternoon when everyone is still at work or school? Craziness…

Actually people die from Tylenol every year. Acetaminophen overdose is a leading cause of acute liver failure in this country. Everything that we put into our bodies is risky. Used inappropriately in an inappropriate patient all medications can be harmful.

Because of genetic and other variations within the population some number of individuals will always be harmed but treatments that help the vast majority of people. EVERY treatment or prophylaxis that you take needs to be evaluated for risk vs benefit.

    For Drs.

How many of each item/fruit/vegetable or what size or weight of each item is required for good health and would be enough to meet government standards ?

If the fruits and vegetables are COOKED instead of RAW, how much less of the nutrients do we get ? What % do we get from the cooked veggies ?

Are Government standards accurate or are there OTHER standards that may have more accurate values ?

Can You name which advertized remedies or supposed cures or fixes are more fraud than helpfull ?

Can You name which ’shots’ are indeed helpfull for individuals and how much they should cost on average for an average person ?

Since there are more phony claims for products than tried and true genuine proven results, can you direct us to a web site that can distinguish the difference and show us which product can help us and which is more hype than help ?

They say broccoli and cabbage will help prevent bladder disease but only if eaten raw ! Is this true ? What about COOKED portions ? How large a portion is satisfactory.

Are vegetables almost as healthy in the cooked state as when they are raw ? What is the difference percentage wise ?

How long can you keep vitamins on the shelf or in refrigeration and have them potent or how much do they diminish after how long ?

How much TV coverage of health topics can er believe in ? What is accurate and what is not ?

What can you eat a lot of that would help you lose weight and fill you up so that you won’t feel hungry ?

Ok Listen!!!!! I’m watching the episode about precocious puberty and
1st of all 1. Someone should tell that little girl she’s beautiful and that she doesn’t look so “different” she just looks a little older. You guys can talk about the severity of the condition without congratulating over and over again for having high self esteem even though she looks so different. This isn’t exactly a society that discourages “over developed” women. And for acting purposes, you guys are all really really hot, but the attempts at “they’re stupid” was really unconvincing. Thats all. Love the show!
p.s. Tell her mom she’s a bit1h, and that when kids make fun of you it defiantly doesn’t help when you put them in a tv show about how much your life sucks. Stop acting so tortured she would probably be alot happier if you didn’t remind her how different she is. Bottom like SHE JUST LOOKS OLDER!!!!

I found it interesting on today’s show that you did not even discuss that childhood obesity can BRING ON early onset puberty. The child on the show was clearly obese. Yet, all you talked about was the early onset puberty…..there is another whole other side to this story and perhaps the family is not so “not to blame” after all. See:
    newslocale.org

Childhood Obesity Signals Precocious Puberty in Girls

Girls who are overweight or obese as toddlers face the risk of precocious puberty, according to researchers at the University of Michigan C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital. The researchers said that obese girls having high body mass index (BMI) score at the age of 3 were most likely to reach puberty by 9 years of age and start menstruation before age 12.

It also mentioned not to use water to mix cereal or other foods if you have well water. I live on a farm and only use nursery water for my babies, but what about when I give them a bath? Can some of those nitrates enter their pores and harm their body? I do use a water softener, and water salt.

    Hello doctors,
I absolutely enjoy your show! I’m a 34 year old male from the state of nebraska who is suffering with lyme disease. I’m by no means bitter about my situation because my recover is going great but there are numerous patients with this disease who are not as fortunate. A year ago I couldn’t talk or walk and now would have to say I’m functioning at about 80-85% due to the treatment plan I’m on. The tests that many of the states use to determine lyme disease are completely out dated and inaccurate. Many doctors seem to think lyme disease is a regional disease and that ticks can’t cross state lines. I just don’t understand the logic in that. Before I was diagnosed I had a total of 17 doctors and specialists trying to figure out what was wrong with me in nebraska. Finally my family shipped me down to missouri to see a specialist(thank god they did!!!), who within the first half hour knew it was lyme disease. Later tests proved he was right and i began treatment. What followed was a complete nightmare!!! When I started feeling better I went back to the doctors who had tried to initially help me and told them my diagnosis with the idea of hoping to help someone with similar symptoms. Instead me and my family were basically laughed right out of their offices. I’m an extremely caring person and was just trying to help in case they ever came accross a case similar to mine. I didn’t want anyone to have to go through what I had been through!!! After some research, I found out what the word lyme means to the medical community…absolute TABOO!!! I think I would have been better off telling these doctors I was going to kill their first born child than even mention the word LYME. My question is not out of angry or bitterness but a real concern. Why will noone admit or even talk about lyme disease without some sort of apprehesion or doubt of disbelief in the medical community?

I am constantly taking her to get waxed but it seems to grow back faster and faster. Is this a disease or is there something else we can do to keep the hair from growing
