I AM REALLY UPSET WITH THIS NEWS…I THOUGHT THIS CONCEPT WAS BRILLIANT AND EXPECTED IT TO DO WELL. THE CAST WAS GREAT AND EVERTHING ABOUT THIS SHOW WAS WONDERFUL. THE FASHION, HISOTRY, MUSIC & LIFESTYLE PEOPLE LED IN THE 70′S WAS EXCELLENT. I AM TRULY SHOCKED BY THE NEWS AND HOPE THAT CBS WILL RE-CONSIDER THEIR DECISION….& IF NOT I HOPE ANOTHER NETWORK PICKS THEM UP, BECAUSE I AM LEFT WANTING SO MUCH MORE!

I think even though this show is a little out there, thats what makes it so great. So many shows on right now are all the same. This is a great show and it needs to stay on so there is a little variety on tv.

This show is AMAZING and original. The show is unlike many others out today. The storyline is very unique and it is something for people who are outside of the mainstream and are tired of the same old shows/concepts.

Praise God…Its about time the voice of family values was heard. Its no wonder the moral values of America are going down the toilet, when the major networks choose to air shows about wife swapping durning primetime. As for the person that said this show was just what we need today, I hate to hear that you feel this way. You obviously don’t have children who you want to see grow up and have a healthy marriage to one woman. I pray for the people of America who are too blind to see the effects of such shows on our children. I pray that God continues to remove programs from our airwaves that promote such horrific moral values.
Maureen | Sep 9, 2008 | Reply
God isn’t removing the show CBS is! I think its horrible that they are taking it off air. One of my favorite dramas that really keeps me entertained and wanting more. Whats wrong with a show that shows as something different? Not only are there real life issues like a loveless marriage, and unplanned pregnancies, but there is also the love between people. This show promotes confronting problems head on. It consistently encourages communication. Sure there is scandal and drama, but thats what makes it interesting; this show appears to remain true to life.

Surely not! This is the coolest show on TV. How could it be cancelled? It brings back so many memories of the 70s. Maybe CBS needs to get rid of some of their other STUPID “reality” shows that no one watches. No one really watches those shows. People watch TV to escape “reality!” I thought CBS was making a REAL change. I guess we’ll all have to go to cable or the other networks to watch primo TV. Oh well…..CBS loses again! Get rid of the decision makers CBS or you’ll go straight down the drain! Oh yeah, take Katie with you! She’s not been the same since she joined you guys!
Megs | Sep 9, 2008 | Reply
You say they obviously dont have children if they think this show is “what we need today”? Well you are obviously not a very attentive parent when you think that this show is intended for kids. You should probably be paying more attention to what your children are watching and not be worrying about how tv shows are inevitably destroying the morals and values needing to be instilled in todays youth. Morals and values start in the home and not in the media. This show is not a reality series. I think you might be confused about that. This show depicts an era that is unmistakably similar to the one we find ourselves in today. Changes and corruption, defiance and lobbying, tragedies and overcoming the odds. You should not deny yourself the knowledge of the past, no matter how immoral it is, just because of self righteousness. If you do not believe it is possible to control your own children to not watch a simple hour long tv show, then maybe you should just get rid of your tv, because the events and happenings in todays world that is being depicted in news programs everywhere are far more immoral than some tv show. This was great program and should only be viewed by adults. And by adults, I mean people who can view this show for pleasure only and not for life’s moral lessons.

I totally agree with Nena!!! This always happens to me too, every show that I actually get into, ends up getting cancelled. That makes me mad that they are cancelling it, its a really really good show, I would wait all week for the next episode. I never was that interested in the 70’s era, until this show. I think that this show is way better than Thats 70’s show, I rarely watched that show when it was really popular. PLEASE dont cancel it.(At the beginning I loved Trina and didnt like Janet much, but at the end I just fell in love with Janets character, the cast really did a very good job, and the script was excellent!) PLEASE try at least one more season with this show!!!!!

Wow get the preacher out! Wow cause god has controle over what goes on the television LOL dumbest thing i heard all my life, go join the Parents Television Council cause no one wants to here about you not being a good parent who watches their children, oh by the way there are children locks on television, oh and to add to your non knowing of anything, dont hide things from children, cause when they grow up it screws them up even more, and then they rebell so shut up and learn how to use teh child lock on your television.
Swingtown was truly an amazing show, it was very different, and makes me wanto have grown up in that era even though i would die wiht out a cell phone, and a computer. I cannot believe that it would get cancelled in deserves another chance, then you have networks that keep comming out with CSI’s and yet they get renewed, cut it down to one csi cause it is all the same shit anyways. But if they renew Flashpoint that will be the final straw. that show is boring and i have already seen it a million different times with a different name.

No one got shot or killed, no weird CSI camera work, just a brilliant show that really captured the Spirit of 1976. I love Swingtown, it was one of the best shows ever on TV. I knew some God Freaks would kill it. They seem to hate and help destroy anything that isn’t “Disney for Adults”. TV sucks because everything seems like it is rated G. Adult themes on American TV? You better be talking about someone getting killed and their murder investigated, because that is all “these people” want us to see (Bible bangers and Network bigwigs). It’s to bad that this country can’t allow anything interesting on TV.

In response to the Jesus Freak above, irony is lost on the Christian Right. You think America’s morals are going down the toilet because of a TV show today, ignoring the fact that the show is portraying what grown adults were doing FORTY YEARS AGO! So if America’s morals are gone, apparently you just got the memo.
As I can imagine where your political leanings aim, and since family morality is so important to you, I have a question for you:
Q: What do you call a hockey mom who teaches abstinance-only to her kids?
A: A Grandmother!

A:Obama called her mama.

I am so upset to hear about this. I wish the network would consider moving it to a cable outlet where it obviously needs to be. The subject matter is indeed of an adult theme, and it seems to be like Showtime or HBO would be a better venue. This would enable more thorough character development as well as allowing the show to explore its subject matter without the restraints of network TV. I am a HUGE fan of this show and have begun turning many of my friends on to it. One thing I have found to be of interest is how many of my friends already are watching it, but weren’t admitting it until I brought it up. There is probably a larger audience than what people think and I wish the network would give serious consideration to moving the show to a more appropriate outlet. I am going to miss this one…

Please bring it back next season! We love this show. Like Josh had said, it’s not like 75% of the shows that are on the air now. No killing, guns, forensics, just plain old drama. This is a great show. We record it every week and we are on the edge of our seats trying to figure out what’s going to happen next. It’s controversal yes, but that is what’s good about it. Keeps you guessing and you have something to talk about until the next episode. This is our favorite Primetime show! Please don’t cancel Swingtown! Keep it going. Take it to HBO, Showtime, Cinemax, whatever. I will be glad to pay the extra for a premium channel to watch this awesome show!

I truly hope a cable network buys this show as it is psychologically fascinating and a wonderfully nostalgic setting for those of us who grew up in the 70s. This show exudes good morals — only someone who doesn’t watch the show would say something negative about it. The happiest couple is the one where the husband and wife are the most committed to and in love with each other and there are consequences for every action for those who misstep. Sometimes it is helpful to learn from watches other make mistakes so we don’t have to — and it’s safest when they’re a TV character. Look back at all of the good classic literature out there and you will find story after story of people making “immoral” choices and what consequences befell them. Please keep this show on the air – I love this show!

There are so many shows out there that just don’t catch my eye…but this show was really eye popping. I did not know how I would like it…but after the first show, I was hooked. Please don’t take this show off the air. I love it. I am a CSI and Friends Fan. I lost friends, and CSI is losing main characters, I need this show. It is my new love.

many memories. Looked forward to Friday nights, told all of our friends to watch it, I don’t think it had a fair chance, by the time some

COME ON CBS! give shows a chance. Swingtown was fun, unique, great stories, smart character developement, and hot women. I am SO dissappointed with all networks these days. If they do not see major viewership after a few episodes they move it. Then if that move does not work they move it again or just shut it down. Whatever happened to building on viewership and season the show-allowing people to catch on. I am VERY disappointed in CBS if they cancel another great show like Swingtown.

W.T.F. People are just afraid to look at themselves in the mirror. I guess the show is to intense for people who have crushes on their friends wives or husbands. Or who has a husband who finds someone attractive. Its a tragedy that a well written show that deals with real life america is being shunned by a bunch of people and a network who can’t face the truth. Here’s the truth to everybody who thinks this show needs to be canceled. Your partner probably does or has already had sex with someone else then you. And yes there are people out there who enjoy life in other ways then yelling at their kids. Jack said it best “You can’t handle the truth”

Ok, I like the show and I’m sorry to see it canceled. But it wasn’t canceled for moral reasons, CBS could care less. It was canceled because the ratings just weren’t there. That’s the only reason shows get canceled. It sucks, since I’ve never actually MET a Nielsen family, so I don’t have a clue who gets to decide my viewing choices, but given what gets canceled and what stays on, I’m not impressed…

I tremendously enjoy this show and would be quite disappointed if it is cancelled. The actors and actresses brilliantly portray their characters. There is not one who does not capture the essence of the decade. There is something in this show that touches everyone. A different time slot should be considered before cancelling. I can’t figure out what goes through the minds of those in charge at CBS. They start some great shows then just kill ‘em and leave on stupid things like Big Brother.
Jericho was also a great show! It had a good following then they crew up with the times and days so people can’t find it then say “the ratings just went thee for the show”. What a load of crap. If you want the show to grow, leave it in the same time slot and day so it can form a loyal base and we can let everyone know about it.
I, have had enough of CBS taking shows off every season and then filling them with more CSI and Big Brother. The only good thing they going for them now is Dave Letterman and Craig Ferguson. I wish they would move them to another network. Cancelling Brilliant Shows (CBS), that should be their name.

I loved Jericho….gone.
Joan of Arcadia….gone.
Moonlight……….gone.
It seems as though if a show doesn’t have a crime/forensics theme it’s doomed to die. I wonder how long it’ll be before they have a “CSI” show on every night of the week. And even the Vegas show will only be watchable for the first 8 eps. of this upcoming season when they replace Petersen with Morpheus (I can’t take Larry seriously after the Matrix movies).
I was addicted to Swingtown and am very disappointed that it was cancelled. What about Janet’s new job? Susan and Roger were just about to hook up! And what about Bruce and that trollop Mel? I have questions dammit!!
I, too, have young kids – which is why I watched it after they went to bed. Just because I love this show doesn’t make me a Godless crappy parent. It makes me an individual who liked a particular show and kept it from my kids. I don’t appreciate some random stranger(s) judging me by what shows I watch while being a parent.

I just started wating this show on Netflix on demand. Too bad. The critical reception was mixed which along with the ratings I think killed it. It wasn’t the mos groundbreaking show but it’s still better than 90% of the crap that’s on today. Too bad CBS doesn’t have the balls to stick with it.

Why? This show was different it told how some people in the 70’s really lived. Even though I did not live this life style I knew people that did. I feel poeple should be able to live a life style they wanted to if it was not hurting anyone else. I enjoyed watching this show and feel that it is a mistake to cancel. This was a reason I stayed home fridays to watch this show.BIG MISTAKE! Move it to cable you will have poeple watch I will.

This is a good show! It gives viewers a little fantacy in today’s reality TV explosion. I would not be interested in this life style but it’s fun to watch. As for those who think this show is a wrong, why are you even cheching up on it on the site?

They didn’t even settle things out on the show. Megs! Hey there! I couldn’t agree with you more in regard to the comment posted by: Shawn Stovall,”Praise God”. How could anyone think for a minute this would be a kid friendly show? The title pretty much says it all. As for morals, if given a choice to look-up to a fictional character in a movie vs a real life head of state, clergy or teacher it seems as though the majority of young adults my age & older would much rather look-up to the fictional character for guidance. This speaks volumes. As an educated, family oriented, mother of a young son this is sad but true. It’s challenging enough raising a descent young person without all of the extra pressure religion brings to the table. While religion shouldn’t be confusing or argumentative it majority of the time is. Thank you for voicing an opinion that resignates with many.
Me included.

Shawn I think you need to grow up with the times buddy!! I am 25, did not live in the 70’s but it does give those of who didn’t a chance to see what it was like. The show was not just about switching husbands and wives to experiment but it was also about the children and how life was for them back then. I can sit here today and say that yes I remember a time that we could ride our bikes, play 7 min in heaven, leave the door unlocked and things would be fine. I think the more you push for nothing to be shown the more your own children will want to watch it. Just to rebell against you. What about the college story about lori and the teacher and her realtionship??? Did you never go through a young adult relationship?? Hello it gives you insight that your parents were going through the same problems at one time. I am just offend that those who want it off only focus on the “bedroom” relationships which they hardly even show! The show is just like any other Day time soap opera, it focuses on relationships with people, so should we take those off too since young children are at home during those times as well. And you can’t say they aren’t because 2 and 3 yr olds are not at school. And you can’t say they dont understand because they do that is their prime learning stage. I feel that the show should stay on. I personally would record the show and watch it on Saturdays and then call my mom (who lived during that time) and we would get so into the show and bring up old memories she had about back then. So I say keep the show. And if you so don’t like the show then put on your “clean” shows you prefer and leave our show alone.

The only show I’ve watched faithfully ever. Now hearing that it could be cancelled is VERY DISSAPOINTING. I hope HBO would pick it up and show the younger generation of the 70’s era. HBO may even script it better. Then I just may have to subscribe to HBO again since Sex & the City is gone. Please bring it back!!!!

I really enjoyed this show and thought it had real potential. I would like to see it picked up by a cable network (Oxygen, WE, FX, Showtime, etc) where they can put more substance and quality into the writing. The actors are very capable of carrying a show with more meat. CBS is too tame a network for a show like this, the writing will always be a little to unbelievably wholesome and stale. I’m not saying that they should make this a sex and nude fest on cable FYI. (Although I know a number of people would like that.)

Tuition for college cost to much and i think business needs to pay for it. i cant even afford to go to the doctor becuase it cost to much. it will be great to have free medical i will go all the time to make sure i am healthy. people who have money really piss me off driving around in fancy cars and buying whatever they want with Obama he will take there money and give it to people who deserve it like us students and regular people. I say make all businesses pay. they have had it good for to long it time the poor people have the money and Obama will make them the poor ones so we will all be the same equal no matter how much or how little you do. he will stop global warming and make everyone get rid of there gas cars that pollute the earth more people need to use the bus and trolly he will make everyone get rid of there car or they will have to pay up.

Swingtown is a trip down memory lane for me. The 70s were my time. The music always makes me smile and sing along. The fashion….oh do I remember it well. In fact in one episode a character wore an identical shirt I owned back then. It is factual as far as the open concept of some marriages/partnerships. Many people were into swinging. Just because this was not your cup of tea is no reason to deny the rest of us the enjoyment of remembering those great years. Peace and Love all around…..unlike Hate and Anger which is everywhere today.

If people are offended by it, don’t watch. Plus I HAVE to find out what happens with Susan and Roger when she showed up at his hotel room!!!!! Of course CBS wants to get rid of “Swingtown!” That’s so they can make room for a second season of “Greatest American Dog.” They can then introduce people to pet abuse for profit. Ratings will go through the roof and parents won’t complain if their kids watch it. It’s what sells! It’s only a damn dog. When it comes to drama like “Swingtown” the parents come up all in arms about how bad it is. I’ll bet these are the same exact parents who would allow their kids to watch a soap opera during the day (which shows tons of bad behavior) and play violent video games at night. It’s just pretend violence! “Swingtown” did not display a body count of any type and showed the consequences couples go through when they make certain decisions. This has been a program which even adults can learn about. A simple rule. Keep it open and honest. How much cheating is displayed on TV, or how many real life couples go through divorce because they can’t keep it together because they can’t communicate together? That’s something that the ADA, AFA, and PTC never tell you.

Though I am only 33, from stories I heard from my aunts and uncles, this really showed the decade well. I was always fascinated with their stories. I always looked forward to seeing the show weekly and if I missed it, I was sure to go onto the website the following day to watch it. The show is addictive and left off with a really good cliff-hanger. I will be one to sure watch season 2 if it ever comes. Everyone I know who watches it absolutely loves it and quickly became talk at the office. Why cancel a show that has such a strong following?

For your information, i grew up watching Sex and the City with my parents and because of that i learned that i could talk to my parents about anything. I din’t grow and become a whore, so if youa re blaming the media for slutty children who can’t maintain a monogamus relationship, why don’t you blame the people who divorce each other or teenagers who raised their children 15 years ago. You blame something else because you are a parent, you raise your kid and you are to blame for what they do. Stop feeling so self rightous and get off your moral soap box long enough to realize that people are throwing themselves down the toilet. Not barely sexual T.V. shows. Maybe you should go spend time with your kids instead of bitching aout television if you are so concerned.

“Swingtown” is OFFICIALLY done with. CBS refuses to say it is cancelled despite all of the cast has been released from their contracts. They don’t want to do it because the show is still generating buzz for CBS and they want to hang onto that. It’s how desperate they are since their crime shows aren’t getting any buzz. Don’t let them leech your dreams. Pass the word around. I personally refuse to let them drag us down. We had a great 13 episode season. Classy and well written. It will go down in TV history as too soon gone. Don’t let CBS win! Please inform everybody.

I think we need to look at this, why would a child be watching tv at 10pm at night? When did 10pm at night become prime time? Why is this such an issue when daytime soap operas show drug use, lying, constant relationship failure and violence. Why is it different because someone chooses to be honest with their partner? At 10pm at night, children should not be watching tv and if your child is up at that time of night, perhaps you should monitor what they are watching. I know I can control what my child views with the touch of a button, but rather than hide life from her, I choose to educate her and explain about good and bad. One day she will have to be in the real world and make choices. I prefer her to be well armed with knowledge and perhaps knowing that people make choices that I do or do not approve of will allow her to make an intelligent free-thinking choice. Swingtown is a fantastic show with excellent scripting, accuracy about a facet of society and a wonderful representation of a politically volatile time in American society.

I am so surprised as I read the many comments on several sits all asking CBS to bring back Swingtown. I too am one of the many viewers who enjoyed the show. It wasn’t all about “swinging”, it was about living in the 70’s and several families who had to deal with those changing times. It was one of the better shows out there. I am also surprised that CBS was blind to that fact. Maybe they should sit down and ready through many of these posts to see the huge audience that really enjoyed the show. Instead, we are forced to watch endless hours of mindless reality tv shows or hyped up news broadcasts. These days, many shows are never given a chance. Usually there are only a few episodes ordered for any particular season, and if they don’t rate, then the show is canceled. You ever hear a song on the radio, and the first time you don’t like it, however after a few times you hear it you start to like it. Well, that is how it is with many shows, but networks never see that, they look at the bottom line, MONEY! Shame, because there have been many shows though the years that shouldn’t of been canceled. If only the networks would listen to the general public. Maybe, just maybe we would actually get quality shows rather than the crap the produce for a cheap price. We as viewers deserve more! So if your a fan, continue to voice your opinion and maybe someone would listen…. better yet, write to CBS direct! The more people complain, the better the chances they will listen.

You are a dumbass!!!! If you think your children are being moraly corrupted by a TV show your are crazy. This sort of situation is happening in real life every day in front of your children. It is your resposibility to teach your children wright from wrong, not the television. That is why there are parental controls on your TV sets. Do not make the rest of us misserable that have the knowledge and strength to be able to watch a TV program and not act out what we are watching. Just because your morals ar not strong and are easily tempted by a drama program why should the rest of us have to suffer. If the show bothers you, then get a DVD of Billy Graham preaching to the masses and watch that 24-7 with your infected family. Maybe they will be saved from the horrible life that is waiting for them outside. If you shelter everyone so much as they are growing up, they will be devistated by what real life brings to them as adults and will not be able to cope and probably end up snapping and clearing out an entire office of co-workers because some woman wore a skirt that was 1 inch above her knees and was unholly.Get a life people. If your children do not grow up and marry one woman and stay with them for life it is because you failed them as a parent and did not lead by example in your own marriage. Everyone needs to accept the responsibility of raising there own children and quit blamming the media and networks for their downfalls. IT IS YOUR OWN FAULT, NOT THE NETWORKS. LEAD BY EXAMPLE AND DONT GET CAUGHT WATCHING THIS SHOW BY YOUR KIDS ON A LITTLE TV WITH RABBIT YEARS IN THE CORNER OF YOU GARAGE. WATCH IT AS A FAMILY AND DISCUSS WHAT YOU FEEL IS WRONG AND WHY IT SHOULD NOT BE THAT WAY. IF YOU CANT HANDLE REALITY THEN MOVE YOUR FAMILY TO THE MOUNTAINS AND LIVE IN A TENT WHERE THERE ARE NO TEXT MESSAGES, EMAIL, INTERNET, TELEVISION, OR ANY PEOPOLE TO CORRUPT YOUR WEAK FAMILY.

I have been eagerly anticipating the return of Swingtown this summer and I just found out it’s been cancelled. Shame on CBS/Paramount for not having the guts to continue with an edgy, sophisticated show. I almost regret CBS even airing the first season. Why tease us with a great show (in the same league as Six Feet Under or Big Love) when you aren’t going to follow through? This is precisely why I’m watching less and less network TV and more and more cable series on HBO and Showtime. I guess I’ll have to depend on “Hung” and “Weeds” this summer for some entertainment.

Wow – I just watched the whole season on netflix in a total in two days and am incredibly disappointed by the 2nd season being cancelled. I definitely hope another network picks it up – its a great show.
Two other disappointments…
1) People making generalizations in regard to the show being primarily about swinging.
2) More disappointment – the slander and generalizations being made in retaliation toward those with religious convictions who erroneously made judgements about the show. Does being open-minded exclude being open-minded toward religious viewpoints? Assuming people with strong religious beliefs are all like whatever stereotype we have in our heads is just as bad as what they may be saying about those people who liked the show.

This is one of the best and most hipist programs that came out and I couldn’t wait to watch it. I am very disappointed that it has not been back on YET.. PLEASE bring it back. It deals with life that really happened then and guess what it still happens to this day and that is the FYI of it for those of you that are just being naive or living the program out yourself. It is just another ERA for us. Oh, I have a comment for those that have kids: which I do, I see it this way you have a few of options:
1: Record the show if you like it and watch it later when then are in bed asleep
2: Get involved doing Family activities, example: game night, movies, sports????
3: Keep your comments to yourself because there is so much more worse TV shows out there and Movies that have been made, some have been overkilled on the re-make process also.
So Please re-think this through don’t cut the show.

This show was great. I loved the way it brought me back to the 70’s. I was only a child then but I rememberED exactly how my kitchen chairs looked when I saw the show. This show was all about love and plenty of drama but it was clean because there was no shooting or killing. Lets face it, swingers were in at that time. Heck, they’re still around today and if this show insulted amyone then hit the off button on your remote control. As for your kids, they hear much worst with the music they listen to today. Besides, as a parent you should always have control of what they watch or set your cablebox for parental control. Not even rated G shows are innocent. Let’s take Cinderella. Two sisters out to destroy their step sister. Do you get what I mean and Cinderella is a Disney movie. As for Swingtown, it left us at a cliffhanger and that sucks! We will never know about Trina’s baby or if Susan has an affair with her bestfriends husband. CBS..BRING SWINGTOWN BACK (SEASON 2) EVEN IF IT WILL BE THE LAST. THAT WAY YOU CAN END THE SERIE WITHOUT A CLIFFHANGER!!!!

I had no idea it was cancelled. I have been waiting and looking for season 2. It is extremely disappointing that boring reality shows stay on the air, and great entertaining shows like Swingtown are cancelled. What is wrong with TV programmers today?
