Stephen Cannell DEAD:A-Team Producer Stephen J. Cannell Dies – The original producer of “The A Team,” Stephen J. Cannell, has died at the age of 69. He has been involved in a number of small screen hits including “21 Jump Street” and “The Rockford Files” as well. He won an Emmy for his work on “The Rockford Files” in 1978 for Outstanding Drama Series. He died from complications of melanoma. This was confirmed in a statement that was released by his family shortly after his death.
The statement said that he died surrounded by loved ones and paid tribute to his career as a television producer.

“Stephen was also a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, and a local friend,” the statement said.
He was born on February 5, 1941 in the Los Angeles area, and grew up in Pasadena. He has dyslexia and struggled with the condition throughout his time in college. It was around this time that he decided to start his career in television as a writer. He wrote scripts for a number of different TV shows before he was picked up to write for several small sitcoms of the day.

He also wrote 16 novels over the course of his lifetime and appeared I a number of shows as an actor. He most recently appeared on the show “Castle,” in which he played a poker buddy of Castle’s.
His death is a real loss in Hollywood, and a number of celebrity Tweets have paid their respects to Cannell since the report initially ran.
