Spartacus Season 3 In January 2012

For the millions of fans of Spartacus out there who were shocked at last night’s brilliant finale, there is some good news and a few bad ones.

We will start with the good announcements:

The show’s creator Steven S. DeKnight has confirmed that there will be indeed a Season 3 and it will premiere sometime in January of 2012 on the Starz network (yes we agree that is a very long wait, but we are certain that it is worth it.)

Now for the bad news, it is now official that beloved actor Andy Whitfield who had the lead role of Spartacus will not be returning to the hit series because he is still battling non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma with his family by his side.

The main character in Spartacus: Gods of the Arena will now be played Liam McIntyre, whom we discovered in the prequel Gods of the Arena and did a mighty fine job in Whitfield’s shoes, or should we say sandals.

S. DeKnight sat down with Entertainment Weekly where he shared few details about the upcoming season.

In Spartacus Season 3 which is really Spartacus Season 2 most of the action will take place out door and the villains will take on a much more important role.
