Sela Ward Joins CSI: NY – After weeks of speculation, the search for a new partner in “CSI: NY” has come to an end. CBS is now confirming reports that Sela Ward will be joining the cast and will replace departing leading lady Melina Kanakaredes. Reportedly, she will be playing an investigator from Washington D.C. The studio said that they were happy to have her on board, and had a few tricks up their sleeve for the upcoming season.
“We are delighted to have Sela joining CSI: NY,” said executive producer Pam Veasey.
Kanakaredes starred in the show for six seasons, but announced earlier this week that she was not planning on returning for the seventh season. Ward will be making her first appearance in “CSI: NY” during the season premiere.
“I am thrilled to be working with Gary and this terrific group of people. I’m a huge fan,” Ward said in a statement.
It will be interesting to see how well her character fits in with the rest of the cast. Traditionally, she plays a very nice woman, but she will have to have an edgier side if she wants to compete in “CSI: NY.” The show has become one of the most gritty in network television, and continues to garner” a large following year in and year out.
All of the shows from the “CSI” franchise have continued to perform well throughout their years of airing. While the shows have not been immune to a dip in the ratings, they always seem to be able to mix things up just enough, and deviate from the original formula enough to keep their fans coming back.
