Regis Philbin Retiring

Regis Philbin is now 79 years old. He has been a media personality for many years on shows such as Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, America’s Got Talent Season 1, and Million Dollar Password.

He is perhaps best, or better most recently, known for his role on Live With Regis and Kelly, which he previously hosted with Kathie Lee Gifford.

For his long career, which occasionally included acting and singing, he is known as the hardest working man in show business.

On Tuesday, January 18, Philbin announced that this will be his last year on the Live With Regis and Kelly.

Philbin described the thrill of coming back to New York to host the show. However, after 28 years on the show, Philbin said that everything must come to an end for certain people on camera, “especially old people.”

Philbin plans to leave the show at the end of the summer or in the fall. Ripa said working with Philbin has been a pleasure a privilege and a dream come true. She told Philbin that she wished she could change his mind.

It has not yet been revealed who will replace Philbin or even if the show will continue.
