Aaron! You Suck! You can can cook, yes. But you’re like watching a train wreck. “I’m Bold” you just put chili flakes on everything.

That dude from Philly should have won!

    REVERSE RACISM!!!

STOP HATIN. Your comments are really really stupid. Grow up and stop being racisist.

  5. Adam | Jul 30, 2008 | Reply

Not being racist, just pointing out the obvious. They fixed this show to hand over the win to Aaron for whatever reason. They favored Aaron throughout this series. Downplaying his failures and exaggerating his accomplishments. He’s not a good presenter and has the tendency of not speaking coherently. I suspect his food knowledge isn’t as great as they lead us to believe. (Chipotle anyone?) I wouldn’t say he’s horrible but compared to his competition he was the weakest of the 3. The fix was there otherwise he should have been packing after that horrendous Las Vegas performance.

  6. Nicra | Jul 30, 2008 | Reply

Fuck this shit, he only won cuz he was black. His demo was hooooorrrrible. Worst of all of them. Watching him is worse than watching paint dry. Adam should have won. He is shit and his show will suck ass… no one will watch it.

  7. Marilyn | Jul 31, 2008 | Reply

It was absolutely obvious why the judges had to have three winners on the last show. Aaron was so bad at the buffet and presentation that they would have had to let him go so they thought up this way of giving him another chance since he was to be the winner all along. How stupid do they think we are?

And this guy looks like Charlie Brown with earrings! Only with more of a loser face hehe No personality + no talent + no brain + stupid face + right skin color = TNFNS yay! Damn this show was fun to watch but the way it ended sucked ass

Again i will say it.He won because he is black. There is pressure on the network execs. to be more black friendly.

WOW u guys are genius! We are talking about a food network show. Adam had ONE good day in Las Vegas and he deserved to win?? I think not. Lisa was very good but she was to anal about being perfect and as a viewer you would have never watched her show to the end. Aaron was consistent and with time will be okay as a host. No one can expect perfection hosting ify ou never was in front of a camera. Talking about his race, his looks and everything is awful because I’m sure Food Network is in the business of making money and why would they hire someone that they felt would not produce. DUH

  12. Linda | Aug 2, 2008 | Reply

How come they didn’t let us vote on the winner as they have in the past? I agree, the fix was in. My big complaint is that if those are the only folks they could get to compete, why don’t they just not have the show? Remember Amy from last season? Probably not, she was so bland.

  13. Carolyn Elam | Aug 3, 2008 | Reply

Gee, I thought this type of blatant racism only existed in the past. Now I understand why a black has never won. I would hope in this day and age that we would analyze and judge fairly. If you thought someone else should have won, then say so and say why, but making racist remarks does nothing for comments.

  14. kc | Aug 3, 2008 | Reply

I think that the FN picked the right winner, I don’t think the show was rigged or that Aaron won because he is black. Obviously the man can cook and is appleaing to many. audiences. Anyone who tries to drop the race card and use it as an excuse to flaunt their racist views needs to pack up their white sheets and move off the plantation. Go Aaron!

  15. shark | Aug 5, 2008 | Reply

Aaaron sucks and I for sure wont watch the show with him on Sundays. You knew he was going to win. It was rigged, rigged from the start!!!!

  16. Linda | Aug 5, 2008 | Reply

Of the 3, Aaron seems the nicest, but my point is none of the contestants really seemed to have “it”. I watched his first show, and it was fine. My point was the network didn’t want to get stuck with another like Amy. They even let the name of the winner slip days early. The fact that they picked the winner earlier gave them and Aaron a chance to practice. If you watched the first 2 seasons, there really were lots more contenders for the job.

So much negativity. IF Aaron won only because he is black, get over it already. White people have been winning for years because they are white. I am watching Big Daddy now and the show is great.

  19. Alison Brown | Aug 10, 2008 | Reply

He sucked from the get-go and he still sucks. Obviously it was fixed or he would have been voted off….duhhhhhhhhhh….3 finalist…HELLO. Be glad you’re a negroid Aaron, as it was the winning recipe.

  20. Kimberly | Aug 11, 2008 | Reply

If you seriously think that the Food Network is going down because they have now 4 black STARS, then turn the channel! Aaron was great from the beginning and his show is a success!! I am so delighted to see the comments from the “haters”!! And how his winning has gotten you so agitated that you would spew such ignorance! Aaron is here to stay, so keep “hatin”!! I love it! Go Big Daddy! Go Big Daddy! Question? If you all can’t handle a black man winning a TV show, how in the hell are you going to handle one in the White House? o-o-o-o-o-o!

  21. fred | Aug 14, 2008 | Reply

I watched the show and one thing I noticed is that he is cooking facing the wall? Why most shows use and island so the camera can be in front of the cooktop. I don’t think his show will last but he is MUCH better on the show than he was as a contestant many times I could not understand what he was saying and I have a DVR I can back ut up and turn on close captioning even that could not understand what he was saying. On his show they can stop and redo it but still not going to watch. I think Top Chef was much stronger this year than FNS. Will have to see how it goes next year!

I think that it’s ridiculous that there is so much hate and negativity being voiced here. Aaron’s being black had nothing to do with him winning. For those of you who think this, take a look at society…has being black ever made anyone’s life easier?? Certainly not, and I speak from experience. If you disagree with the judges’ decision, then disagree. But, don’t degrade an individual because of the color of his skin, or the way he speaks. Maybe he hasn’t had the opportunity that some of us have had to learn better. I wish him the best of luck, and I hope that his coming success proves everyone who had something negative to say about him WRONG!!! And for those of you who had something to say about the way he speaks, I suggest you do something about your grammar because half of you can’t spell.

    Chris,
Thank God that Aaron did not have to depend on you and your noose tying friends for his success. It is forums like this that allows cowards to post something stupid and racist without having to show their face. I am more than sure if standing face to face with Aaron your opinion would be much different. Aaron was consistent throughout the show for his food delivery. Adam, kept getting criticized for his lousy food and childish anticts. Do you remember that awful three stooges fall he attempted at the military base.. (foolish). He was childish and didn’t take things serious until the end. In my opinion Adam was more focused on building a comedy career than demonstrating his cooking skills; which is the reason he was there. Please remove the racism because it is not necessary. Either you felt Aaron was good or bad, it had nothing to do with his race.
By the way I think Alton Brown sucks. Not because of his race, but because he just does.

  34. Barb. | Oct 5, 2008 | Reply

What the hell is reverse racism? Either you are a racist or you’re not. I agree that whites have held the throne in adminstering racism; however, Aaron is a talented guy. HIs skills will continue to develop in time. You should watch old footage from your favorites Food Network stars and see how they blossom with time. In the beginning watchin Rachael Ray was like watching a Stepford wife. She was stiff, dressed like a sixties housewife, and had no personality at all. Bobby Flay didn’t even know how to open a food processor. My point is, give the guy a chance, others were giving the opportunity to be molded into the stars they are today. Had the network not believed in their stars there would be no Food Network channel.

Congrats Aaron. You deserved to win. You have a lot of talent, skill, personality and a nice vibe. It was obvious that the judges LOVED the BIG taste and flavor in your recipes.

There is obviously a market for your good old fashioned, great tasting, comfort, SOULfull food.

I’ve watched your first couple of shows of “Big Daddy’s House” and the food looked good… too good! I believe it would work best for people like me who like to avoid saturated fats, carbs and the like if you would suggest the low-cal, healthy options for your dee-lish, down-home dishes.

Thanks! You rock. Keep doing what you are doing, it gets better and better!

Nearly 200 reality-TV hopefuls showed up at Portland’s downtown Marriott last Thursday for a crack at competing on “The Next Food Network Star.” But instead of trying to elbow their way to stardom a la “Survivor,” they exchanged pleasantries like they were at an office mixer.
The room’s charismatic centerpiece, however, was Teddy Wells, an actor from Hawaii with a roaring laugh and giant shell around his neck. He’s been on “Baywatch,” “Fantasy Island” and “Lost.”
“You’d probably remember me best from my one scene in the operating room, where Ben elbowed me and I escaped,” he said of a “Lost” appearance. For five hours, men and women, young and old, switched seats to be next to him.

    White guy who liked Aaron.
Aaron may not have been the best cook, but his personality ruled the day. Lisa was too fake. She hardly ever opened her eyes all the way and was painful to watch. Adam was a dolt who tried to “funny” his way into the show. Aaron was the only one who made food I would actually eat.
Racists and idiots on both sides here. Dudes talking about penis size…now that’s pretty sophomoric. You’re just as bad as the bigots.
Let’s just watch the show, and enjoy it. If not, turn the channel!

Ya know, I didn’t even watch the show, but how many pointed hats need to be handed out to you guys?! Are we really still so ignorant as to say such horrible, hateful things simply because of a person’s skin color? I happen to be white, and personally, am disgusted and embarrassed to be associated (if only by color) with anyone who talks like you guys. He is a person just like we are. Although, I’m thinking he might be better than most of you.

I LOVE YOU BIG DADDY!!! I have tried a couple of his recipes and they were delicious! Face it, racism will never die…ALL the black people know that, white people just think we are ignorant, whites only tolerate us because they know we are not going anywhere. PRESIDENT OBAMA he is all of our president, so face it blacks are moving up the chain and we are not going to stop until we reach the top. You can watch Big Daddy or not because he is not going anywhere. It puzzles me that when a black person win something that it was rigged and everything they do and say is critiqued and criticized; we are use to it but it only makes us stronger. I do not like Aida, so I just do not watch her show but you will not here me criticizing her for her race.

Just like food network to join the rest of our liberal nation to lick a nigger’s ass. Doesn’t matter how much white or asian talent is in the line up, if there isn’t enough black representation, the whole world is coming to an end. All the morons who continue to defend niggers are the same people who stand there and watch a nigger beat the shit out of someone(white, asian, indian, etc) and not say anything because you are afraid they will beat your ass too! Get some nerve and stop being a damn doormat. Ignorant fools! Aaron’s show sucks and just comes to show they did not pick the best person. Enough said.

Hi, I’m Teddy Wells, I’m a professionally trained chef with an unusual personal history, an outgoing personality and a deep passion to create and present food with wide appeal. I also have had valuable experience in front of television cameras, so I’m familiar with the weekly TV series production process.
I’m an African-American male who is a devoted single dad to my eleven-year-old son. I am articulate, have a good sense of humor, a great smile, an infectious laugh and the energy to work 16-hour days.
Buckle up – ‘cause here’s my story:
I grew up in New Orleans, a poor, black kid with a dysfunctional family and a variety of do-nothing relatives. Fortunately, I was blessed with a supportive, devoted mom (now deceased).
I was able to escape the impoverished wards of New Orleans and avoid becoming yet another criminal statistic thanks to the power of food. But not just any food.

First, the food prepared in my Mama’s kitchen – made from what items were on hand, purchased with a limited budget, based on the Creole traditions of New Orleans, and stretched to feed an immediate family of five and various down-and-out relations.

Second, the exceptional food prepared in the outstanding French restaurant where I began my culinary career, as well as the famous New Orleans Creole food served on the Natchez Steamboat. And lastly, the wide variety of foods to which I was introduced in culinary school.

As my experience with food increased, I realized that the preparation of delicious, nourishing, wholesome food was becoming my passion – an art form that could transform my life. I found the drive and commitment to “make it” and move on
    – way beyond – what the depressing statistics said I could do or accomplish with my life.
Timeline of your next Celebrity Chef Star
    • 1987: I did what a sixteen-year-old with no experience could do; I got a job as a dishwasher at a restaurant in the French Quarter of New Orleans. To my surprise, the mountain of dirty dishes and the derisive comments from some of my fellow employees were more than compensated for when the head chef took a liking to me. He encouraged me to observe while he prepared the food and he answered my endless questions. I knew enough to stay out of the way, but I didn’t miss a thing.

In time, I was promoted to line cook at the Louis XVI French Restaurant in New Orleans. I also worked a second job as a cook on the Natchez Steamboat where I prepared New Orleans cuisine in large quantities for the tourists.

    • 1990: I had found my passion. I enrolled in Tulane University’s culinary arts program and immersed myself in every class, while working in the restaurants of New Orleans.

    • 1992: Life dealt me a blow when my Mom died of breast cancer. I decided it was time for me to put my culinary training to the test. I moved to Dallas, Texas where I went to work for the Hyatt Hotels. This was Nirvana for a kid from New Orleans and I was on my way.

Over a period of 4 1/2 years with the Hyatt, I moved up from line cook to kitchen supervisor and on to assistant sous chef. I learned what food in the corporate world was all about; preparing and presenting outstanding quality to a highly selective clientele, and learning how food “fits” into the business profit environment.

    • 1996: A time of miracles. A wise man once told me “If the grass is greener on the other side, then you might need to fertilize.” So, I decided to expand my culinary horizons.

I relocated to Hawaii and became a line cook at Nick’s Fishmarket , one of the top seafood restaurants in Waikiki. Eventually I also held positions as server, front-of-the-house manager, and food and beverage manager in several elegant Honolulu restaurants.

I was asked to take a temporary assignment as the personal chef for the owners of the Four Seasons Hotel and Resort in Beverly Hills. In this assignment, I was able to share my passion for food with several Hollywood stars. Returning to Hawaii, the opportunity to “moonlight” in movies and television came my way and I had small roles in ”Krippendorfs Tribe”, “The William Hansen Story”, “Baywatch” and the new “Fantasy Island.” Eventually, I was given a role on the TV series “Lost” where I appeared in nine episodes in the third season.

This experience has given me complete ease in front of the cameras even after a long day in the restaurant.

    • 2008: I enthusiastically bring to the Food Network a unique combination of interesting cultural heritage, culinary training, interest in exotic and unusual foods, and television experience that will let me “hit the boards running” at the Food Network.

Today, I live a life of appreciation for what I have, and what I can give to others. I have a natural “teaching” skill and a natural talent for managing other people that builds teams and opens up opportunities for myself, and others.
Well-known author Dr. Leo Buscaglia said, “Teachers serve as bridges for their students to cross so the students can then build bridges of their own”.
Teddy believes he can build a bridge through television to an ever-expanding audience of viewers who are passionate about food and thirsting for knowledge. My first teacher, the chef at Louis XVI restaurant , saw in me an unrealized passion for cooking, an eagerness to learn, a thirst for knowledge and the diligence to do things just right. I believe that I can inspire the same passion in the Culinary Arts Industry.

I currently played a lead role as Krishna Thompson in “How I Survived” airing in August on Animal Planet. Teddy Wells will soon introduce his new cuisine so stay tuned.
    What’s Next??
I will go to San Diego to audition to be the Next Food Network Star on August 17, 2009. I pray that my guardian angel is there with me.
