Mad Men Season 4:Mad Men Season 3 Finale Watch Shut The Door Have A Seat S03E13 – Mad Men finale/Mad Men Season 3 Episode 13 called “Shut the Door, Have a Seat” aired last night on AMC.Sunday night it was all a bout losing an old family and moving away from illusions in order to create a new one.

The finale revealed that Don has a heart as we watched him beg Betty not to leave him (but she files for divorce leaves the two oldest kids behind and moves to Reno with her new man Henry Francis and the baby). We also learned that Don is a fighter and a believer who managed to convince many reluctant people with some tough words but sometimes with some loving phrases (Roger, Pete and Peggy) that Sterling Cooper might be gone but they can always start over and do a better job at Sterling Cooper Draper Price. It was an excellent episode it pulled everything and everyone that made the show great together under one roof the one that covers Sterling Cooper. The flashbacks which made the connection between Don’s memories of his father’s financial dilemma (His father decided to go out on his own after being disappointed and being taken for a fool by the cooperative world), and the choice he was facing in the present were much needed to explain his choice.Do you sympathize with Betty ,and did she make the right choice by accepting Henry Francis verbal guarantee that he will marry her and provide for her three kids? What are your thoughts on the episode?
That’s all we have for now on Mad Men Season 4.

I think Betty is in for a rough ride. I think the actor has done a fantastic job in portraying her as a person with so many flaws and is ultimately so shallow yet still complex. Roger Sterling is hilarious and Pete is fantastic. While Don is of course the main character, but I find that the writing and direction often fails to create him in a way that is believable. I cannot accept that he or anyone can switch on and off his tough guy persona and his super vulnerable wimp persona.
    PS:
    Good review by the way.

It is such a statement of those times that Betty trust a man she does not even know. Very complex character…but very predictable and obvious…I think she will be sorry for leaving Don, however, it could also be a statement of a weak woman becoming strong. One woman in that era who found the strength to make a very hard choice, rather than live in a miserable relationship with the man we all love, but is everything she says he is!! Would you live with Don? I know guys who have no problem switching on and off charm, shows to be vulnerable..and then turns cold. Self-Absorbed and he makes you feel so sorry for him. Is he weak & vulnerable or is he just really smart not to argue with Betty, leaving her to her own divices..and going on with life. I sure hope Sally and Bobby survive. Hopefully Don will mirror today’s “single dad” and actually “be there” for his kids.
When does the next season start?? Can’t wait..

I do not sympathize at all with Betty. What she no longers loves Sally and Bobby anymore. No matter what Betty will aways be mother of Bobby and Sally. What her new boyfriend Herny Francis hates Bobby and Sally? Has Betty ever thought that Bobby and Sally will ask this question to Don “When is mommy coming home?”

I would say Mad Men is the best show ever! I got so upset with Betty’s decision that I almost broke my lap top watching it lol.
I think the show has a fantastic way to show the 60’s culture and lifestyle. And it’s intriguing and interesting to see that even with the modernity and advances, as individuals and families we are still facing the same essential dilemas.
I can’t wait for next season!!!!!!!!

Betty is everything already mentioned; shallow, complex, confused. Keep in mind she recently lost both parents, has a serial cheater for a husband and lives in suburbia in the 60s. I think she should be cut some slack.

Betty does deserve a break. Living w/Don’s constant cheating and lack of emotional intimacy must’ve been very hard on her especially when she needed him the most. I know my grandma always tells me to never depend on a man for anything, go to college, have my own life, etc….(she lived in the same environment Betty did) very very sad…

Entertained by football tonight instead of with “Mad Men,” and was disappointed with the score … although an amazing game. I’m never disappointed with “Mad Men,” though and wonder when the drama will begin again.

Having been a woman in the workplace during the ’60s, “Mad Men” is a fabulous period piece. I can’t wait for the next episode, yet grateful there have been some changes in the roles women are now allowed to play in the workplace.

Poor hapless Betty, she remains a victim, just going through the motions while seeking someone to rescue her from herself, her philandering husband, and her two oldest children.

Please bring on the next season … ASAP!

I think we all watched Betty go from somewhat happy to completely unhappy (she hardly ever smiles anymore) person. She was uptight person to begin with, but now she’s an ice queen. I don’t think it’s all her fault. Don doesn’t give her any emotional intimacy, support, and love. So, she has every right to leave him.
But it seems that Betty’s longing for more glamourous life, hoping Henry Francis will provide her with the spotlght.

I think most women would sympathize with Betty. I don’t think she has left sally and bobby behind,. I think she was just taking the baby with her to get the divorce done and get married. She left the two older kids with Carla. Don certainly is not going to be responsible dad for them. I think Betty can be cold but I think she has just had it and in those days a woman with 3 kids just did not strike out on her own. I do not think she left Don because she found out he was really poor. She was done, fed up and tired of all of the lies and the tears she has probably spent on this man. How much should she take? How much would any woman take? I think Don can be decent but Don is all about Don. We saw that early on in the first season in the flash back with the hobo when he was a kid. The lesson was take care of yourself. And Betty was willing to move on from their suburban life this season. I think this was a whole undertone to her actions. She was bored with suburban life (as she told Don a few times this year) and I thought she was getting on his page of chucking the pretenses and going out on their own. But Don didn’t want that. He wants his pefect life on paper at home and his real life outside. Don and Betty are flawed people with troubled emotional baggage.

I think Betty did the right thing. It looks like everyone has forgotten that she knows about Don’s infedelity. Then she found out that he’s not the real Donald Draper…how could we blame her for leaving him for Henry Francis? Can’t wait to see season 4!!!!!

Betty, it’s about damn time. She deserves this time to herself after the past year and if Francis puts a smile on her face, what is wrong with that? Don blew his chances and as for Sally and Bobby, she hasn’t abandoned them completely. She’ll come back after the divorce is finalized. My only problem is that she shouldn’t have taken Francis’ verbal proposal/financial aid at face value because she’s a mother. Never know what the future holds.

    Hurry Season 4.
