Lost What They Died For:Watch Lost Season 6 Episode 16 Online S06E16 – Lost season 6, episode 16 called “What They Died For” which was directed by Paul Edwards and written by Edward Kitsis & Adam Horowitz & Elizabeth Sarnoff aired last night on ABC.
It was another great episode of Lost where the impossible was made possible:
The islanders finally met Jacob who explains why he brought them to the island ,what is the purpose of the island and rapidly proceeds into asking who wants to volunteer to replace him.
It was not really a surprise when Jack took the job and Jacob proceeded into to making him immortal and officially handed down the responsibilities.
Meanwhile Smokey who is still pissed that he wasn’t able to kill all of the islanders in the submarine decided to do some killing of his own.
Here is a recap of the episode.
Jack Shepard (Matthew Fox), Kate Austen (Evangeline Lilly), Hurley Reyes (Jorge Garcia), and James “Sawyer” Ford (Josh Holloway) wash up on a shore, having survived the submarine crash from The Candidate. On their way to the well where Desmond supposedly lay, a younger Jacob (Kenton Duty) confronts Hurley alone, demanding the ashes of his adult body. Jack, Kate, Hurley, and Sawyer make it to the campfire, where Jacob claims to answer any of their questions. He reveals, throughout the interrogation, that they were brought to the island to take his place to protect the island, and they were chosen above others because they were like him.Sawyer asks Jacob what the island needed protecting from, and he answers that the light, the “heart” of the island, needs to be protected from the Man in Black (Locke). He then tells them that one of them needs to choose on their own who will be the next Jacob, and when no one steps forward, Jack does, stating that it was why he was brought there.
Meanwhile, the Man in Black and Ben find Widmore and Zoë hiding, and The Man in Black begins to interrogate them, but then slits Zoë’s throat. He then gets Widmore to tell him why he is here, asking Ben to leave the room first. While Widmore is whispering into The Man in Black’s ear, Ben shoots Widmore several times, killing him.The Man in Black explains that Desmond’s unique resistance to electromagnetism is going to help him destroy the island instead.
2004 (flash-sideways timeline):
In the flash sideways, Jack Shephard (Matthew Fox) is found looking into a mirror at a blood stain on his neck, seemingly coming from no where. He then goes into the kitchen to eat breakfast with his newly discovered half-sister, Claire Littleton (Emilie de Ravin) and his son, David Shephard (Dylan Minnette), where they discuss David’s upcoming concert that night.Desmond is later found waiting outside of the high school where sideways John Locke (Terry O’Quinn) and Ben Linus (Michael Emerson) work at, waiting in a car in front of the entrance. He appears to be attempting to run over Locke yet again, since Locke has been released from the hospital from the first time Desmond ran him over, but Ben jumps in front of the car and threatens to call the police. Desmond exits the car and begins to beat Ben senseless, telling him that he wasn’t trying to hurt Locke, but trying to get him to “let go”. While Ben is being beat, he is having a vision of Desmond beating him up in the original universe, as seen in Dead Is Dead.
Ben, next time he confronts sideways Locke, conveys what happened and what was said between him and Desmond. After Locke hears this, he goes to see Jack. Locke states that he believes this is fate, and that it is his destiny for Jack to fix his wheelchair bound disability.
Meanwhile, Desmond goes to the police station where sideways Sawyer (Josh Holloway) and Miles (Ken Leung) are employees, and Kate (Evangeline Lily) and Sayid Jarrah (Naveen Andrews) are being held as prisoners (due to earlier events in the flash sideways world). Desmond confesses to Sawyer running over Locke and beating up Ben for seemingly no reason, and he is put in the same cell as Sayid by Sawyer, neighboring Kate’s cell. A van arrives to transport Desmond, Kate, and Sayid, and they enter together.
The van, however, pulls over, and flash-sideways Ana Lucia Cortez (Michelle Rodriguez) opens the door and lets them out, demanding the money promised for setting them free.Sideways Hurley (Jorge Garcia) exits with the money, giving it to Ana Lucia. Hurley seems to recognize Ana Lucia from the original universe, who is confused at how Hurley knows her.Desmond hands Kate a dress and telling her they were going to a concert.
This week’s episode was brilliant but with the finale just few days away did we really get any questions answered in “What They Died For”?
Why did Sayid tell Jack to go to the well because Desmond has apparently vanished ?
What is the purpose of the numbers? Why did the real Locke want to protect the island?
Why is Desmond on some mission to throw a reunion party for all those who flew on the flight with him?
If Desmond and Kate went to the concert, where are Hurley and Sayid going?
Hopefully we will get some answers on Sunday but we doubt all mysteries will be solved but our conclusion is that Lost is one of the greatest television shows in history and we will miss it.
