Autumn Hurlbert,Bailey Elle Woods,Laura Bell Bundy - Legally Blonde The Musical: The Search For Elle Woods? winner is Bailey Hanks.Bailey Hanks cried when the judges made the announcement.Autumn Hurlbert, Rhiannon Hansen and Lauren Zakrin have all been cast in either the Broadway production or the first national tour of the musical, which launches in Providence, RI, Sept. 23.Bailey may have been copying off Laura Bell Bundy’s Elle,she still managed to beat Hurlbert, the first runner-up in the competition, will understudy the role of Elle Woods on Broadway and will perform in the ensemble. Zakrin, the youngest contestant on the reality show, will understudy the tour’s Elle Woods, Becky Gulsvig, and will also be a member of the ensemble. And, Hansen will play the role of Margot, Elle’s best friend, on tour.

I’m so glad autumn is at least an understudy. I thought that Bailey’s attitude was terrible and had hoped that Autumn would win. A few weeks ago, I told my friends that it would be the “Elle” thing to do, if they used the runner up as an understudy (of course, I also told them that when it came down to autumn and Bailey, if autumn won, I would go see it any time, but if Bailey won, I’d go see it when autumn was understudying.)

From what little we got to see of Autumn and Bailys audition Autumn was by far the obvious choice. So I am dissapointed but not surprized. I’m not suggesting that Baily is not talented. But in my opinion the decision was primarily based on looks and personality.Baily said it herself “she is Elle Woods.” First of all following in the footsteps of Laura Bell Bundy will be difficult enough for anyone takeing over the role.For Baily the challenge will be even more difficult because of her inexperience.(She hasn’t even opened yet and she planning her next career move playing Glinda in Wicked !)By bringing nothing new to the role of Elle this is what’s going to happen…It will be Baily playing Laura Bell Bundy appearing as Elle Woods.I’m not wishing her ill will but all the signs have been there from the beggining.For Autum it was only a matter of time anyway.The stars await her!
