Kevin Eubanks Leaving Tonight Show

Kevin Eubanks Leaving Tonight Show – Kevin Eubanks will be leaving the Tonight Show in six weeks time. It has been rumored since February that Eubanks was considering leaving the program after spending 18 years as the music director. NBC also confirmed in February that Eubanks was considering leaving the show. After doing his famous “Headlines” portion of the program, Leno called Eubanks forward to come sit on the famed couch and said “we have one more headline to get to and it involves our very own Kevin Eubanks.”

“After 18 years, I just need a change of pace and see what else is going on,” Eubanks told the crowd. “But it’s a really difficult decision because this has become my second home, as it has been for the band, and I love the audience and the American people really love the show and it’s been a wonderful experience to be here.”

The two would then exchange compliments. “You’ve been a great friend and really supportive. When the jokes die, I gatta look to you man.” Leno said to Eubanks.
Eubanks responded by saying “I thought about this and it wasn’t that difficult. After 18 years of playing America in to commercials, I’m going to go somewhere where I can finish a song.”
Eubanks has not commented on what he plans to do after his time is over on the Tonight Show. Judging by his comment, it appears that Eubanks would like to get into the music business or perhaps another television role that would focus more on his music. It has been rumored that this was the path that Eubanks was heading on for several months, and it appears that it has finally come to fruition.
