Kevin Eubanks Leaving Tonight Show – Kevin Eubanks said goodbye to “The Tonight Show” for good on Friday. He has been with the program in The Tonight Show band for nearly 18 years, but finally tendered his upcoming resignation several months ago.He recently stated that he would be leaving the program so that he could focus on his own recording career, and his success after the program comes to an end. He will be replaced by Rickey Minor, who previously was the band leader on American Idol.

Eubanks went on to say that the decision was very difficult for him, but that it was the right move for him. He said that he loved the show, and that appearing on the show had been a wonderful experience for him over the course of the last 18 years. “After 18 years of playing America into commercials, I’m gonna go somewhere where I can finish a song,” Eubanks said when Leno asked him what he would be doing.
He has long served as a comic sidekick and guitarist for Leno on the program. He has been on board with the show since 1992. He became the musical director for the program when Brandord Marsalis left in 1995.
