Dexter has become a soap opera with its overblown focus on relationships of characters that should be on the periphery.

Season 3 had Angel boring us with his pursuit of a vice-detective just to have the whole storyline vanish with two lines at the start of season 4. This paved the way for the least interesting subplot of Maria LaGuerta hooking-up with Angel, yawn.

The flash-backs (a device from the series Kung Fu) that worked so well have been replaced with the spirit of Harry Morgan interacting with Dexter, did he suddenly become schizophrenic?

Dexter was depicted as a very careful killer that would only kill when there was no chance of error in method or guilt of his prey, yet in season 4 all of this had given way to a devolved Dexter. Dexter's next victims should be the writers who are guilty of murdering a perfectly good TV series with formulaic efforts that any hack could spew.

Season 3 started slow but did catch fire in the second half.I thought episode ten in which Dexter and Miguel met on the rooftop was the best episode of Dexter thus far.Perhaps season 3 wasn't as good as the first two but it was still very good [compared to other shows].I haven't started watching season 4 yet but will soon start[tmn on demand].I thin kit will be great!

Even the double entendre episode titles for this show are very clever - "Remains to Be Seen," "Let's Give the Boy a Hand;" great stuff!

Jake, that stuff about introducing personality traits and such - it's a little thing "character development." Most thinking people appreciate it. They make stuff like Transformers and Friday the 13th for people like yourself who don't.

Wow Seth. That's a really horrible idea. It's not at all realistic, and does Dex really need to try being all buddy buddy with anyone?? Look what happened with Miguel.

No Derek. That's horrible. He doesn't need to kill himself. The show must go on.
