Cablevision Food Network Scripps Networks HGTV – Cablevision and Food Network have ended their partnership….for now. Some New Yorkers were awaken to a nasty surprise on New year’s day, their cable provider Cablevision Systems will no longer be carrying The Food Channel and HGTV which are two channels run by Scripps Networks Interactive, after a long fight over distribution rights fees.Cablevision said in a statement:
“We are sorry that Scripps’ current financial difficulties are making it impossible for them to continue our relationship on terms that are reasonable for Cablevision and our customers. We wish Scripps well and have no expectation of carrying their programming again, given the dramatic changes in their approach to working with distributors to reach television viewers.”
Kenneth W. Lowe, chairman of Scripps Networks Interactive (SNI),explained in a statement:
“Viewers love our talent and our shows, which is why Food Network and HGTV rank among the top networks in cable. But our valuable networks simply are not being compensated like top ten networks by Cablevision.”
Scripps is campaigning and petitioning to get Food Network and HGTV back on Cablevision.
That’s all we have for now on Cablevision Food Network.

greed – that is all this is ! there was no warning that the food network was being dropped. This is a total unacceptable. I am sure Cablevision is not refunding us any money for taking channels away. I think it is time for me to make a change away from Cablevision, if this is the way they treat their customers

we already pay too much for cable. I think they are all getting greedy. These are 2 of my favorite channels but if it means my cable bill is going up more I will live without it.
I am not getting a pay raise to cover all these increases in rates.

I am deeply disappointed and upset that HGTV and the food network channels were removed for viewing without proper notice…I am giving the situation a few more days before I change my cable station. Greed before customer service.

Time to drop Cablevision. Total mismanagement of this issue without any backup plan. Inconsitent response from the company vs when calling customer service. Time for cable monoplies to end.

They can’t do this to us. We are their customers and we have the power. If you like these channels so much, we should come together and protest. I have to emphasize this, WE HAVE THE POWER. They need our money, as long as we’re together, we can do anything in this country and take part in any decision from ethical decisions of health care to simple decisions about how many chips we want in a bag of potato chips. Boycott and pa**ionate expression with the usage of the media is the key to bring these greedy, selfish animals down.

Why for money I am paying more than I can afford right now in order to watcg the Food Network Please negotiate and restore it for many people like me.

It is an atrosity. I have enjoyed Food Network for years, and with the already exorbitantly high bill that keeps increasing, at the very least, we should be able to watch what we like. Whaf if every subscribet pulled the plug on cablevision?

Cablevision needs to be stopped. They are full of it. It doesn’t matter which company shut off the channels (which both of them hold the other responsible). The bottom line is that cablevision customers are still paying the same rates for programming that is 2 channels short. It is not the customer’s job to negotiate with tv companies. It is the customer’s job to make sure they are being billed correctly. Right now we are not. Cablevision better fix the problem or step up and give its customers an incentive to stay a customer. FIOS is popping up everywhere and there’s always satellite. Cablevision is a greedy corporation. Did you ever try to get a special price when your not a new customer. They will not budge. Even if you threaten them that you’ll shut your service off, they don’t care. They claim that there service is so great because they are the only company that offers free HD. Lie. Other companies offer free HD and technically if you look at Cablevision’s prices the HD is nowhere near free. And for people who do not have HD TV’s its even worse. They are paying the same for their programming whether they have an HD box, a standard box or no box at all. At least other companies give you the choice and don’t build the charges into your rate. These idiots must be stopped. Its time for this company to go bye bye.

We just switched back to Cablevision a month ago. Took the triple play package to save money. No one told us then that there might be a problem with Foodnetwork or HGTV being dropped. It’s time for Cablevision to be honest and own up to their part in this. I will give this a little time to work itself out. If they do not work it out I will be getting rid of Cablevision and going back to DISH or Direct TV.

What a stupid surprise to find two TV moguls acting like butt heads at the cost of their customers. Both looking for another way to screw their customers. Hell, Verizon FIOS should come out with a new commercial showing how Optimum has lost two of their best channels. I, just like many other OPTIMUM users will be glad to make the move, save money and have our channels back while these two greedy idiots hash it out. Maybe OBama should give them a bailout. They will need it if this continues.
