Bruce Bueno De Mesquita:The Next Nostradamus
Bruce Bueno De Mesquita:The Next Nostradamus – Bruce Bueno de Mesquita, was featured on a show on the ‘History Channel’ called “Next Nostradamus”,earlier tonight. The show basically compared Michel de Nostradamus and Bruce Bueno de Mesquita who is a well respected professor at the New York University and Stanford:
Here is a brief summary of the episode:
Michel de Nostradamus was a French apothecary and healer in the 16th century; he would become the most famous seer in history. His 21st century counterpart is Dr. Bruce Bueno de Mesquita, a renowned political scientist who teaches game theory at New York University and Stanford. While Nostradamus looked to the stars and mysticism to divine his apocalyptic revelations, Dr. Bueno de Mesquita relies on the most omnipotent tool ever designed by man to predict future events: the computer. This special explores not only the commonalities of these men’s visions about World War III, famine and the coming of the Anti-Christ, but it also traces the evolution from mysticism to hard math, and determines whether science has always existed in prophecy, manifesting itself in different forms through the ages.
That’s all we have for now on Bruce Bueno De Mesquita:The Next Nostradamus.

The special on Bruce Bueno de Mesquita was not as informative as I hoped. Although I understand that he was not going to explain his theory, he also did not give any specific statements about the future. In addition, the special spent a great deal of time discussing Nostradamus, not Bueno de Mesquita.
I found it particularly annoying when one historian decided to interpret the quatrain that references ‘1999 in the 7th month’ as a ‘code’ Nostradamus used for what happened on 9-11. The quatrains were written 500 years ago in a language different from ours. To say something will be lost in translation is an understatement, particularly when Nostradamus took special pains to write them in quatrains. Many authors have found it difficult if not impossible to interpret his writings and did just what this historian did, i.e. they guessed.
The only thing Bueno de Mesquita said that I really found interesting was his prophecy on China imploding on itself in contradiction to the prophecy by Nostradamus.
However, he did go on about global warming and it’s dire consequences and did not address the fact that many countries, including our own are actively addressing the problem. Cars are already on the streets that our safer for the environment and by 2012 GM will have an even better one out. We are increasing windmill usage.
I think the program would have been better if they did an introduction about Nostradamus and then discussed Bueno de Mesquita, given some specific statements about when he thinks things are happening, and addressing the objective data out there that could indicate a change in the probabiities he uses for his equation which, in fact, could change the outcome.

what annoyed me was the segment about some great leader who consulted with this oracle about whether or not he should go to war with persia. the oracle said that if you do, “a great empire shall fall.”
then this expert says, “he assumed that meant the great persian empire will fall when in fact it was his empire that would fall and he lost.”
hmmm…so if he had won then this “oracle” was also right, right? anyone else smell anything funny? a palm reader at the mall could have given that wise saying for 5 bucks.
but yeah, that 9-11 comment had me scratching my head for a second and it was annoying!
you call this a documentary? you call these people historians? experts? I have a better word – suckers.

Indeed, they spent an inordinate amount of time talking about Nostradamus, & not a whole lot on Bruce Bueno de Mesquita. I still found it to be an interesting & informative special, though.

If you must insult people for thinking they’re intelligent enough to debate the state of the universe, please use your own “serious knowledge” and check your spelling!

I saw the show Next Nastradamus and have a message for Bruce if you would be kind enough to give it to him. I have an idea about prophesy concerning the square root of two that I think may be interesting to him. I am retired from the US Navy 21 years service in communications and also retired from AT&T as a computer engineer.

Further explain please? I don’t mean to sound dumb but I don’t understand. As far as the show went I liked it I just wish they would have gone into more detail about what his preditions for 2012 are. I wanted more from the show then what was shown. But maybe they just weren’t at liberty to put it on tv.

This show had a message if people were open to it’s thoughts. A computer program of variables and personal thoughts in ranges of numbers and symbols can be confusing for most to absorb.
The use of “numbers” can be also seen on TV by the same name.
Every action can be calculated by distance and presence. The Maya had a saying “that without measure there is no movement ”
Considering this show was to inform people of possiblites , some will understand ,other will not be able to,at least not yet.
It would how ever be interesting should this man be able to show what is possible after 2012 and the convergence of the Center of the Universe and Our Milky Way on Dec 22nd 2012…
And How the Alignment of the planets will have on the effects on Earth by polarity changes…

The truth. Global warming is not from the sun. It is coming from the core of earth. The oil we remove insulates us from the heat the earths core produces. This combined with the sun will drive the global temp up. How many gallons have we already taken and how much is left? It has taken millions of years for this plannet to become stable enough to maintain life. Unlike water we have nothing to replace the oil. What would happen to your cars engine if you drained the oil slowly as it ran?

I would like know why the tv program “THE GAME”was canceled. Was it because of ratings or what?
