Boardwalk Empire HBO New TV Show: Martin Scorsese New Gang Drama

Boardwalk Empire HBO New TV Show: Martin Scorsese New Gang Drama – A new gang drama is coming to HBO, and Martin Scorsese will be bringing it to life as its executive producer. Scorsese said that he had been searching for an opportunity to work on an HBO series, saying that, “It’s a new opportunity for storytelling.”
The new series, called “Boardwalk Empire”, is based on a book by Nelson Johnson and explores Atlantic City in the 20’s, right after World War I ended, women received the right to vote, and liquor became prohibited throughout America. Steve Buscemi will play the main character, Nucky.

“This is one of the best parts I’ve ever had in my life.” Buscemi said. He also told reporters that he read through the script before receiving an offer to play the character, and thought, “Wow, I’m almost sorry I’m reading this because if I don’t get it, I’ll be so disappointed.”
Terence Winter, the writer of “The Sopranos”, received the pitch for “Boardwalk Empire” from Mark Wahlberg and Steve Levinson, who produce HBO’s “Entourage”. Winter says that when he heard Martin Scorsese would be involved in the project, he said, “Believe me, if there is a television series in there, I’ll find it!”
