American Idol 2011 Online Auditions – The worldwide television phenomenon, American Idol, is celebrating it’s 10-year milestone with a new way for potential contestants to enter the running. The competition is now allowing people to upload videos in which they’re singing for the audition to MySpace.
The video auditions are only allowed to be 40 seconds long, and contestants must sing from a pre-approved song list with no accompaniment. Each contestant is only allowed one video entry, and the videos will each be judged in the same manner as a live audition. A select few internet submissions will be invited to Los Angeles for callbacks.
Some of the auditions songs include “Ain’t No Sunshine” by Bill Withers, “Kiss a Girl” from Keith Urban, and “Copacabana” by Barry Manilow. The fans will be able to share their videos as well as see highlights that will be posted to a special gallery on the MySpace audition page.
Although there have been many rumors going around about the judges panel this year, it is known for sure that Simon Cowell, Ellen DeGeneres, and Kara DioGuardi are all no longer a part of the show. Also, the age limit for the show was dropped to 15.
