Alice SyFy 2009:Caterina Scorsone – Alice which is a new two-part mini series inspired by Lewis Carroll books “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland” and “Through the Looking-Glass” premiered on the Syfy network last night. The miniseries was written and directed by Nick Willing and portrayed Alice as a modern woman with dark hair (she is not blonde like in the other 50000 versions of the story) and is a martial arts instructor. So did Syfy do good in re-imagining Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland? Here is the plot :
Alice Hamilton (Caterina Scorsone), an independent woman in her twenties, finds herself in Wonderland after the man she loves is kidnapped by the White Rabbit. However, the Queen is not very happy about Alice’s arrival. In the course of her adventure, Alice enlists the help of an array of characters including the resistance fighter Hatter (Andrew-Lee Potts), resistance leader Dodo (Tim Curry) and the White Knight (Matt Frewer)
To be honest the network did succeed in changing the heroine (Alice) of a classical work into a bad ass chick.Scorsone did a good job as Alice but there were so many flaws such as:
-The Queen of Hearts (Kathy Bates) weird political statements.
-The plots were too predictable.
-Its four-hour running time was a bad idea.
Maybe Dodo and the White Knight will save the next episode.
What are your thoughts on the episode?
That’s all we have for now on Alice SyFy.
