30 Rock season 5 episode 4 called “Live Show” which was directed by Beth McCarthy-Miller and written by Robert Carlock & Tina Fey aired this evening on NBC.
This week’s installment of ’30 Rock’ more or less had two episodes – one for each coast that was built around the fact that everyone including her boyfriend Matt Damon forgetting Liz Lemon’s big 40th birthday.
The episode which was inspired by an installment of Saturday Night Live was not intended to really advance the storylines but was able to show how good the cast of 30 is-they were able to deliver two solid pieces without really missing a beat.
Even Tracy Morgan showed us that there is more to the comedian other that a very loud mouth with countless failed movie ideas.
In all fairness we must admit that the cast and crew had some serious help from very talented guests which included Matt Damon, Jon Hamm, Rachel Dratch, Bill Hader, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus.
Julia Louis-Dreyfus was simply brilliant being the woman that Liz thinks she is in her imagination and flashbacks.Hats off to Jon Hamm and his fake hands ads that was beyond funny.
Overall it was a pretty good episode, very fast paste, the punch lines were well delivered and the faux advertisements were stereotypical yet hilarious.
Two things we loved were Jenna’s sexy dress and Jack’s views of the world when sober.
